Is it normal for old injuries to flare up in colder weather? ❄️🦶

Yes - colder temperatures can make joints and muscles stiffer, reduce circulation, and make old injuries feel more uncomfortable.

Gentle movement, warming up properly, and keeping muscles and joints supported can help ease the stiffness and keep you moving comfortably.

Did you know? 👣

Your walking pattern (gait) doesn’t just affect your feet - it can influence your knees, hips and even your back.

Small imbalances in how you move can place extra strain on other areas of the body over time. The good news? With the right assessment and support, these patterns can often be improved.

It really varies from person to person. Some people benefit from appointments every 4 weeks, while others can go up to 10 weeks between visits.

On average, most clients come in every 6–8 weeks to keep their feet comfortable and healthy. Your foot health professional will always guide you on what’s best for you after your appointment.

Seasonal Tips: Spring Edition 🌸

Sandal season will be here before we know it - so now’s a good time to think about your toenail health.

Issues like thickened, damaged, or discoloured nails often take time to improve, so addressing them early gives you the best chance of healthier-looking nails by summer.

Foot-Body Connection Explained: Feet & Balance 👣

Your feet play a key role in keeping you balanced. They contain thousands of nerve endings that send constant feedback to your brain about position, pressure, and movement.

If the feet are weak, stiff, or lacking support, that feedback can be reduced - which may affect stability and increase the risk of trips or falls.

Keeping the feet strong, mobile and well supported helps your whole body stay steady.

What Your Shoes Say About You 👟

If the heel of your shoe is worn down on the outside, it can be a normal wear pattern — most people land on the outer heel when they walk.

However, if the wear is very pronounced, it may suggest underpronation (supination), where the foot doesn’t roll inward enough to absorb impact. Over time, this can place extra strain on the ankles, calves and outer edge of the foot.

Spotlight On: Plantar Fasciitis 👣

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It happens when the band of tissue along the bottom of the foot becomes irritated or overloaded.

Many people notice sharp pain with their first steps in the morning or after periods of rest.

The good news is that we can help! With the right support, exercises, and insoles, symptoms can often be managed very effectively.

Reach out to us on hello@comfootzone.co.uk or 01903 532159 if you have any questions or would like an appointment!

Is it normal for knee pain to start with longer walks? 🦵

Increasing your walking distance puts more load through the knees - especially if your feet, footwear, or walking mechanics aren’t providing the right support.

Occasional aches can happen, but if the pain keeps returning or worsens with activity, it may be a sign something needs addressing.

Did you know? 👣

If you have diabetes, checking your feet daily is so important.

Nerve damage can reduce sensation, meaning small cuts, blisters or pressure areas might go unnoticed - and what starts small can quickly become something more serious.

A quick daily check can prevent bigger problems. If you’re unsure what to look for, we’re always here to help!
