This is one of our favourite quotes, so much so that have it on the wall in our Funeral Home.

Grief IS the price we pay for love, and unfortunately, the more we love, the harder the grief is.

We found this poem called ‘Firelight & Forever’ a few days ago, which is about missing a partner on Valentine’s Day. It is such a beautiful poem, so we thought we would share it with you all.

If you have gone through the loss of a partner / husband / wife, our thoughts are with you today and always 🫶🏻

Losing a loved one can be hard for anybody, but even more so for children. You may not know what to say to a child, or how to say it, but we can help with that. We stock a range of books that can be given to children to help them understand the loss of a loved one. We currently have in stock The story of Daddy, Mummy, Grandad, and Grandma, but we can also get Brother, Sister, Baby Brother, and Baby Sister. For more information about these books, please do get in touch, or alternatively, you can pop into branch any time and speak to us in person.

This week, (9th - 15th February), is . When a child loses a loved one, you may be worried about how to tell them, or how to answer any questions that they may have. Because of that, we are sharing this post from Child Bereavement UK, which gives you advice about how to answer a child’s questions about death and dying. You may find more information about this topic on Child Bereavement UK’s website.

Answering children’s questions about death in a straightforward, honest way may seem difficult, but bereaved children tell us that it’s helpful when adults speak to them in a way that is clear and unambiguous.

We just wanted to pop online and let you all know that should you ever come to our office and our doors be locked, we may have just popped out to do other duties, such as a funeral arrangement, or a removal. Because we are such a small team, there isn’t always somebody in the office, however, if you give us a call, we will be able to let you know when we will be back, and can make further arrangements with yourselves if needs be. The telephone lines are connected to both of our mobile phones, so we should be able to pick up your call at any time, unless we are on a funeral service. If it is a non emergency enquiry, please feel free to email us.

Today is , a day to raise awareness of the support available to those who have gone through a bereavement.

There are over 1000 bereavement services on one national database, which you can find on the The Good Grief Trust website - www.thegoodgrieftrust.org. All you have to do is put in your postcode, and it will bring up a list of all of the bereavement organisations in your area. You will also find other useful information and support for a variety of topics on the website, so do go and have a good look around. As The Good Grief Trust says, “Help and Hope in one Place - All under one umbrella” ☂️

With Valentine's Day being this Saturday, we understand that this day can be difficult for some. Because of this, we thought we would share these tips from Cruse Bereavement Support.

If you are struggling to cope with grief, it is important that you reach out to somebody, whether that be a family member, friend, GP, or an organisation like Cruse Bereavement Support. Their details can be found below on the tips pages.

Please don't suffer in silence 🫶🏼

This is such a good picture from Mind, showing a block of flats with each person dealing with their own battle. Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors/windows, so we should never judge. Not only that, but if we see our family, friends, or neighbours usual behaviour changing, it is important to check in on them to make sure everything is okay. Never take their first response, always ask twice.

Behind every window is a story you might not see, and a burden you might not know someone is carrying. You never know what someone is going through.

Today is , a reminder that you don’t need to be an expert to listen, sometimes being there is enough. One conversation might not solve everything, but it lets someone know they aren't facing their "behind-the-scenes" alone.

Who are you checking in on today?

With it being , we thought we would share this video of some of Chester Zoo’s sights and sounds of nature. We always find that being amongst nature, and even stopping and listening for just 5 minutes, is a great way to help your mental wellbeing 🙂 Nature is all around us, and if you just stop for a few minutes and take in your surroundings, you will find that it really helps.

If your mental wellbeing is not great at present, and you need to talk to somebody, please see our previous post, which has some useful contacts on there.

We have just been to Queens Square to see the giant hand carved letters that spell out “Wrecsam” which is part of a new public art project that will be touring round the County. We had seen the pictures of it online, but they don’t really do it justice. You really do need to see it in person, but make sure you admire each letter, because each one has its own map of a part of Wrexham on it. It really is stunning, and what is even more impressive is that it was carved from a single fallen oak tree in Rossett.
