The family of the late Audrey Chaytor have asked me to share the details of her Funeral which are as follows:

Peacefully in hospital on 3rd November, Audrey aged 94 years. Now joins her late Husband, Michael.
Service to take place in St John The Baptist Church, Egglescliffe on Saturday 22nd November at 1:30pm followed by a private Cremation.
Would friends please meet at Church.
No flowers please by request, donations in lieu if so desired to RSPB Saltholme. Donations can be made and memories of Audrey can be shared by visiting Audrey’s online tribute page by using the following link, https://audreychaytor.muchloved.com/ a collection will also be available at Church.

This morning’s reflection at Yarm War Memorial was a poignant and deeply respectful moment of remembrance. A peaceful yet powerful tribute to those who gave so much for the freedoms we hold today.

Our sincere thanks to Royal British Legion - Stockton & Yarm Branch and the Standard Bearers for their organisation, presence and involvement, ensuring the spirit of remembrance continues to live on in our community.

This morning’s Remembrance Sunday Ceremony in Yarm was truly moving and deeply respectful.

The service at St Mary Magdalene Church, Yarm was beautiful, followed by a touching Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to honour those who gave so much.

A huge thank you to Royal British Legion - Stockton & Yarm Branch, Yarm Town Council , Yarm Churches and all those involved for organising such a dignified and meaningful morning of reflection.

We will remember them.

Over the last couple of weeks, we are proud to have volunteered and work with other amazing local volunteers in the lead-up to Remembrance Sunday, supporting the Royal British Legion - Stockton & Yarm Branch with this year’s Poppy Appeal.

We spent three days out on Yarm High Street selling poppies. It was truly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces stopping by to say hello and to show their support for our veterans.

Supporting our veterans and our local community means so much to us, and it was lovely to see Yarm High Street so full of life. It’s not often we get the chance to spend that much time outside seeing how well our high street is thriving.

Every poppy really does make a difference so thank you to everyone who donated and shared their stories with us.

Lyn Casey and I are out on Yarm High Street again today between 12 and 4pm, proudly working alongside Royal British Legion - Stockton & Yarm Branch selling poppies.

You’ll find us just outside Savers and inside Sainsbury’s, so if you’re in the high street, please pop by to say hello and get yourself a poppy to show your support for our Veterans.

It’s always lovely to see so many familiar faces supporting such an important cause and every poppy really does make a difference.

Grief Awareness Marketplace – Billingham Library
Thursday 4th December 2025 | 10am–4pm

As part of Grief Awareness Week, we’re proud to be supporting and taking part in the Grief Awareness Marketplace at Billingham Library, a day dedicated to opening conversations around grief, support and wellbeing.

The event will feature a variety of stalls and talks from local organisations who all share one goal, to help people navigate loss with understanding, compassion and care.

At David Knowles Funeral Service, we’ll be showcasing the range of support and services we provide to families across our community, as well as answering any questions about funeral planning, memorials and the ways we help you create a meaningful farewell.
