When was the last time you were frustrated or angry? 🌱 Sometimes they’re a blip in the day – other times it alters the outcome of the day completely. Although it’s important to recognise those feelings – it’s equally important to not let those feelings overwhelm you and take on more mental space than there needs to be.

Grab a notebook and put thoughts to paper, so they can live on the page and not in your mind. It can be as little as expressing annoyance at a wrong coffee order or something more complex like a conversation with a loved one that rubbed you the wrong way.

We’ve all heard the benefits of daily exercise, but sometimes that can feel overwhelming, intimidating, or sometimes a bit boring! Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be any of those things!

For a little heat to spice up your dinner this week, here’s an easy recipe for harissa chickpeas. Perfect to warm up on a cool winter evening!

Ingredients:

10 ml oil
1 medium onion thinly sliced
5 ml balsamic vinegar
4 cloves of garlic, minced
6 g smoked paprika
30 g harissa paste , see note for less spice
5 g dried oregano
80 g chopped, fresh leafy greens
1 can of chickpeas, drained
235 ml full fat coconut milk
Salt, to taste
Splash of lemon juice, to taste

Method:

1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the oil, onion and salt to taste. Once the onion is translucent and starting to get golden on some outer edges, add the balsamic vinegar and mix well. Continue to cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.
2. Add in the garlic, smoked paprika, harissa, and oregano, and mix really well. Cook for a minute, so that the garlic gets cooked. Then add in the leafy greens, chickpeas, and coconut cream and mix really well. Partially cover the pan, and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, then taste and adjust the flavour.
3. Garnish with lemon juice. Serve with naan or rice.

One of the most common complaints from my clients is a stiff neck and sore shoulders 🌱 A common source of that problem may be a bit lower than you might expect – the thoracic spine. Here’s a simple stretch that may help alleviate some of that pain:

Lay on your back with your hands out to the side in a T-shape position. Bend your knees up and let them fall to one side. Hold for at least 30 seconds, ensuring that your shoulders stay flat on the ground. Switch sides when ready.

Sometimes the most simple meals are the most decadent. This brown butter sage gnocchi takes 10 minutes, but tastes a dream!

Ingredients:
1 package gnocchi
55g good quality butter
Fresh sage leaves, chopped
Salt & pepper to taste

Method:
1. Cook gnocchi in a saucepan according to package instructions.
2. Place butter and sage in a skillet over medium heat until butter turns dark brown in colour. Add gnocchi, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.
