Last Saturday, our practice was closed as our team came together for a full day of training and professional development. The day focused on furthering our knowledge of ZEISS lenses, advancements in contact lenses, dry eye management, and cataract lens options, as well as an informative session on hearing care. 👓🩵

These sessions are an essential part of what we do — helping us stay informed, confident, and ready to provide the best possible advice and care for our patients.

After a full day of learning, we transitioned from training mode to celebration mode, dressing up for a black-tie evening of dinner and dancing. It was a wonderful chance to relax together and celebrate the teamwork that drives our practice forward — not only within our own team but also alongside colleagues from other Friths practices.

The warm amber tones of the frame pair beautifully with the golden coating – a perfect match!

✨We recently received another kind 5-star review from a patient who came in for a sight test with Simon, our Practice Partner and Optometrist. They also mentioned how helpful Jacinda, our Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician, was in finding the right pair of glasses.

It’s always encouraging to hear that patients feel well looked after — thanks to them for taking the time to share their experience.

Yesterday evening, some of our team attended a talk by Somerset Sight, a local charity that supports people who are blind or partially sighted across Somerset. They shared how they help individuals stay independent and connected through a mix of practical support, emotional guidance, and community-based services.

Their work includes offering advice, providing daily living aids and equipment, running a home visiting service, supporting patients in eye clinics, hosting social clubs, and delivering tech training for those adjusting to sight loss.

We also had the chance to try on simulation glasses that replicate different types of visual impairment — a simple but powerful way to understand some of the everyday challenges faced by those living with sight loss.
