At the start of the week, our practice partners, managers and senior leadership headed to Birmingham to visit the ZEISS offices.
From our Yeovil branch, Ben and Simon (Practice Partners & Optometrists) were joined by Jacinda (Practice Manager) and Becky (Student Dispensing Optician) for a brilliant day of learning and connection.

The team enjoyed an in-depth lab tour to see how ZEISS lenses are crafted to the highest standard, along with educational sessions to deepen our knowledge and ensure we continue offering our patients the very best care, advice and service.🥼👓

After a full day of learning, we squeezed in some festive exploring at the Christmas markets before ending the evening with a lovely meal out. 🎄✨

Trips like this help us strengthen relationships across the company — and with our ZEISS buddies!💙

Last Saturday, our practice was closed as our team came together for a full day of training and professional development. The day focused on furthering our knowledge of ZEISS lenses, advancements in contact lenses, dry eye management, and cataract lens options, as well as an informative session on hearing care. 👓🩵

These sessions are an essential part of what we do — helping us stay informed, confident, and ready to provide the best possible advice and care for our patients.

After a full day of learning, we transitioned from training mode to celebration mode, dressing up for a black-tie evening of dinner and dancing. It was a wonderful chance to relax together and celebrate the teamwork that drives our practice forward — not only within our own team but also alongside colleagues from other Friths practices.

A Week Full of New Frames!

It’s been an exciting few days at the practice as we welcomed some of our wonderful frame reps, each bringing the latest styles for our team to try on and help curate our upcoming collection.

On Tuesday, John dropped by with the sleek and sustainable Eco Eyewear and MODO Eyewear ranges. Then on Wednesday morning, we caught up with Josh, who brought along some fresh new styles from the always-popular Bloomdale collection — plus a sneak peek at a new brand we’re excited to start stocking soon: Tree Spectacles!

To finish off the week, David from FACE À FACE Paris brought a bold burst of colour and playful design — the perfect way to wrap up a week full of fresh inspiration.

Yesterday evening, some of our team attended a talk by Somerset Sight, a local charity that supports people who are blind or partially sighted across Somerset. They shared how they help individuals stay independent and connected through a mix of practical support, emotional guidance, and community-based services.

Their work includes offering advice, providing daily living aids and equipment, running a home visiting service, supporting patients in eye clinics, hosting social clubs, and delivering tech training for those adjusting to sight loss.

We also had the chance to try on simulation glasses that replicate different types of visual impairment — a simple but powerful way to understand some of the everyday challenges faced by those living with sight loss.
