Yeovil Shopmobility

Yeovil Shopmobility Shopmobility is an affordable hire service of powered equipment or manual wheelchairs available for anyone with mobility issues. Where is Shopmobility ?

Shopmobility is a scheme to enable people with limited mobility access to shops, services and Leisure facilities in and around Yeovil. Anyone with limited mobility can use the scheme, whether through permanent or temporary disability, illness, accident or age. Yeovil Shopmobility is located in the Lift Lobby on the Lower Ground Floor of the Quedam Carpark. How Much Does It Cost ? We are dependent on charitable support but we do ask a small charge for the service.

โ„๏ธ This winter will be tough for many local residents, with poor transport links and long, dark days making it harder than ever for people to get out and about.

Thatโ€™s why our Slinky Bus Service and Volunteer Car Scheme are so important โ€” helping neighbours stay connected, get to essential appointments, and feel less isolated. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’™

If you think you could spare even one day a week to be a volunteer car driver, weโ€™d love to hear from you.
Your time could make a huge difference to someone right here in our community.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Please get in touch to find out more.

๐ŸŽ„ CHRISTMAS CLOSING TIMES ๐ŸŽ„

After what has been an incredibly busy and demanding year, Yeovil ShopMobility will be taking a well-earned break over Christmas to give our small team of staff and volunteers some much-needed rest and time with their families.

After working tirelessly all year, through the challenges of rebuilding and keeping the service running, it feels important to pause, recharge, and come back ready for another year of helping our community stay mobile and independent.

ShopMobility will be closed from
Tuesday 23rd December and reopen on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

From all of us at Yeovil ShopMobility, Staff, Volunteers and Trustees, thank you for your continued kindness, patience and loyalty throughout 2025. Your encouragement keeps us going more than you know.

Wishing you all a warm, peaceful and very Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy New Year!

๐Ÿ’™ What a week for Yeovil Shopmobility, we really needed this! ๐Ÿ’™

On Saturday we held our Table Top Sale at The Old Barn Club and raised a fantastic ยฃ291.25 ๐ŸŽ‰ Every penny that will go towards helping us keep people in Yeovil mobile and independent.

It was such a lovely day, full of laughter, cake, coffee, and great company. A huge thank you to:
โœจ Kerri Rowswell
โœจ Glenda Stevenson
โœจ Sue White (Mum)
โœจ Keira for the gorgeous cakes
โœจ Karen for the plant donations
โ€ฆ and of course all our stallholders, family, friends, and supporters, you know who you are ๐Ÿ’•

And the good news doesnโ€™t stop thereโ€ฆ we were also awarded funding from the The National Lottery Community Fund ๐Ÿ™Œ This continued support from them is such a lifeline for our small charity, and we couldnโ€™t be more grateful.

Thank you to everyone one who came, supported, donated, and joined in, we had an absolute blast (and yes, spent plenty at the stalls too! ๐Ÿ˜‚).

Feel free to share our good news โ€“ every share helps us spread the word ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒŸ A Huge Thank You to Mendip Mobility! ๐ŸŒŸ

We want to say a massive thank you to Mendip Mobility for their continued support in keeping our scooters in excellent working order. They are the trusted company that services, repairs, and maintains all of our mobility equipment โ€” and we honestly couldnโ€™t do this without them.

Our most recent scooter (pictured below!) is a perfect example of their kindness and generosity. When the motor broke on one of our scooters and the cost of replacing it was far too high for us as a small charity, we thought weโ€™d have to scrap it. But thanks to Mendip Mobility, they managed to build a fully functional scooter using good parts from our original and their own, saving us hundreds and ensuring our customers can continue getting out and about independently.

If any of our customers are ever in need of repairs, servicing, or advice about mobility scooters, we canโ€™t recommend Mendip Mobility enough. They are reputable, trustworthy, and genuinely care about their community.

They also have a brilliant showroom full of mobility equipment for sale. Pop up and say hi to the lovely team at Forrest Hill, Yeovil!

Our Story

The Project opened in June 2006. We were fortunate to have David Laws our local MP to officially launch the scheme. We had been donated 5 New Scooters and set up money from the District and Town Council. Office and store facilities provided by the Quedam.

Mr Clive Davis, who served as Yeovil Mayor from 2012-13 was a founder member of Shopmobility and we were fortunate to have him promoting the service at every opportunity.

Those of you who know Clive will know that he sadly passed away May 30th 2014 and since then plenty of tributes have been paid in his memory. He was a keen motorcyclist and was confined to a wheelchair after a biking accident. Cliveโ€™s support for the disabled of Yeovil will never be forgotten. He was a great man whoโ€™s achievements had touched the lives of so many. He was a kind, open hearted and a selfless man who put his heart and soul into helping others. โ€œHe was a gentle giant, certainly in heart, soul and friendshipโ€.

At present we have huge support from the Quedam who provide our office and store. We have 7 Trustees as well as important representatives who help us in the general running of the service. The Committee meet about 6 -8 times a year.
