Every year Salvation Army churches ask people to donate new toys and gifts for children whose families are already making impossible choices between food, heating, and bills.

Last year, Thirsk Salvation Army distributed gifts to 186 children with the church and charity fearing more people will need support this year…

👏 Slimming World Thirsk Fund Raising

At Slimming World Thirsk, we all decided to do the 100 mile walk challenge in October to raise money for Breast cancer.

I am Ali the Slimming World Consultant and after finding out two members have been effected by breast cancer, l decided l wanted to show them l was thinking about them.

Leanne has just gone through treatment and June is having Chemo at the moment.

One night at group l told the members what l was going to do and other members also decided to join me in the challenge.

We do encourage members to take up a active lifestyle, so was delighted that other members wanted to join me…

⚽️ Thirsk Falcons Match Report from Facebook

Saturday took the U9 Girls on a trip across to Copmanthorpe on a glorious autumn morning.

The sun was shining and the girls looked incredibly smart in their new training tops!

As the first whistle blew Falcons were on the front foot creating chance after chance and hardly letting the home team out of their half.

Some excellent saves from the opposition keeper made for a tricky day for our forwards.

I was particularly pleased with how we defended today as we had a slight change in formation, which worked a dream against a Copmanthorpe team who never gave up…

🏃🏃🏼‍♀️ Harrison Takes the Win at Goathland

Over the last week, the Harriers have been racing across North Yorkshire. On Saturday 8 November, Esther Harrison continued her excellent form and took the overall female win, and 8th overall, in a time of 4:26:50 at the Hardmoors Goathland Marathon. Lucy Sillars also took on very muddy course, completing the half marathon event in 4:03:14. The full and half marathon courses overlap on the out and back which meant they were both able to see a friendly face and have very brief conversation on some very slippery wooden steps!

Over in Montreal in Canada, Alan Simpson was at the Federic Back parkrun finishing 26th out of 115 in 24:57. Alan was powered by poutine (cheesy chips and gravy) and ejoyed the flat, single lap course which looped a reclaimed old quarry containing some futuristic biogas well pods…

❤️ North Yorkshire Hospice Care’s Ongoing Commitment to Supporting Veteran Community

North Yorkshire Hospice Care, which comprises of Saint Michael’s Hospice, Herriot Hospice, and Just ‘B’, offers vital hospice care for terminally ill people and their families, and comprehensive bereavement and emotional wellbeing support for children, young people and adults.

The Veteran Healthcare Alliance accreditation, which was received in June 2025, demonstrates the organization’s dedication to providing compassionate, equitable care for the veterans community and increasing the support they are offered, as part of its ongoing strategy to reach 50% more beneficiaries by 2027.

The recognition follows a collaborative effort from staff across departments, including several with military connections, who helped evidence best practice in supporting local military communities…

The senior and vet women and over 65 men took on two laps of the course and the senior and vet men ran three laps.

These set off at different times so there was lots of support from members during the races with a great atmosphere and hot drinks and chocolates courtesy of Rob and Christine Burn.

❤️ 4RA Supports St Columba’s Church, Topcliffe: A Day of Service and Connection

In a display of community spirit and shared values, soldiers from the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery recently joined local residents to support the upkeep of St Columba’s Church in Topcliffe.

Led by Capt B Guthrie and Padre H Afful, the team worked alongside long standing community members John and Doug to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks around the church grounds.

From tidying the surrounding area to repainting the gates, railings, and church entrance, their efforts breathed new life into this cherished local landmark, enhancing its welcoming presence for all who visit.

⚽️ Thirsk Falcons Match Report from Facebook

**U13 Blues vs Redcar Town**

After a week off last week the Blues were back in action against Redcar Town today and were looking to continue their early season form into the middle of the season.

With some injuries and illnesses limiting the squad to only 2 subs, the Blues had to work hard and smart with and for eachother today to ensure they had the best of the game.

Lucas B opened the scoring with a wonderful solo run, beating several players before calmly slotting home.

Carrick was then first to react after a shot was parried by the keeper to clinically double Thirsk’s advantage.

Thirsk dominated the play throughout the first half and kept Redcar’s chances to a minimum and came into the half time break 2-0 up…
