Throughout the year we run different fundraisers for different causes, like our children's group, Club Wilber.

But did you know, you can donate at any time, by clicking the orange button on our website?

Just visit our website and you'll see the button at the top right hand corner of every page. Any amount helps us continue work with adults and children with visual and hearing impairments. From seaside trips to activities at home, from coffee mornings to board game afternoons - it's all about enriching lives.

The Wilberforce Trust is proud to have been supporting people with a visual impairment, hearing impairment or sensory loss since 1833.

Club Wilber had some sensory fun this February half term with a slime party, run by

The party leaders at Gootopia set our young people to make their own custom slime, including choosing the colour, glitter, sprinkles, and scent, making it a really personalised and sensory experience! Following this, we then made a giant slime to stretch into a parachute as a group.

Every young person left with two tubs of slime to take home, and some left with the knowledge that vinegar works to get slime out of everything- even hair...!

We are delighted to announce that we have WON the Tesco Stronger Starts blue token appeal!! That's £1500 for Club Wilber, our group for children and young people with a visual impairment.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us with their tokens at Tesco Askham Bar, Quaker Wood, Ouse Bridge and Piccadilly York. This funding will enable us to put on more activities for the children and their families, making them inclusive for siblings to enjoy together and allowing families to experience places that might not normally feel accessible to them.

Thank you!

The Club Wilber accessible Easter Egg Hunt is on 28th March this year, and its the perfect opportunity to come and see what we're all about. The egg hunt is open to current Club Wilber families, and those with a child with a visual impairment, who arent currently members. The event and the group is open to families across Yorkshire, and its free!

The egg hunt runs from 11.30-1.30 and is made up of large, plastic bleeping eggs, so they can be found by using hearing. Siblings without a visual impairment can use an eye mask to take part, so this really is an egg hunt for the whole family. There are Easter themed activities on in Wilberforce House from 10.30, and Weston's Cafe open throughout.

If you would like to join us or for further information contact our Club Wilber Coordinator, Megan, on clubwilber@wilberforcetrust.org.uk

When the days are shorter, it hasn't stopped raining, and many of us are counting down to brighter spring mornings, it’s easy to understand how people can feel a little low or isolated. But just as spring is around the corner; bringing new beginnings, lighter days and fresh starts, this could also be the perfect time to spark new friendships.

Becoming a befriending volunteer is a simple but powerful way to make a difference within the community. You don’t need special skills; just a friendly face, a listening ear, and a little bit of time.

If you’re looking for something meaningful to do this year, why not consider signing up as a befriending volunteer for someone living with a visual or hearing impairment? The benefits go both ways.
