It's known that unmanaged pain leads to increased pain sensitisation, which leads to more pain.

We have great protocols for minimising pain when it comes to the surgical patient, but when it comes to the chronic pain of osteoarthritis it can be more challenging to explain the benefits of pain control to owners and mitigate their concerns.

They may believe that their pet is "just a bit stiff" or that they're just "getting old".

However, chronic pain uncontrolled will lead to more pain. Take the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience and manage your arthritic patients’ pain as effectively as you can for their benefit!
