Chocolate Works Culinary Showcase🧑‍🍳🍽️

Last week our amazing Head Chef Alex, and Second Chef Keith hosted a Spring Menu Culinary Showcase, where they shared a number of new dishes for everyone to try and educated us about the nutritional value of each meal!

Everyone was very impressed with the new additions to the menu, in particular the freshness, bold flavours and variety that is being served!

The new Spring menu has now commenced and we look forward to seeing what new dishes become everyone’s favourites!

A big thank you and well done to Alex and Keith for their hard work and dedication towards ensuring our residents receive nutritional and delicious meals every day 😊💜

An incredible visit 🤗💜

On Monday, we were joined by the amazing Naomi Simon who treated us to some musical 1-1 time for our residents.

Naomi won the BBC’s young Chorester of the year competition in 2022, and has the most beautiful voice, we were truly astounded by her talent. She sung us a mixture of genres, ranging from hymns to jazz standards and even some Adele!

Some truly beautiful interactions were had, we really value this 1-1 time we can spend with residents and we can’t wait for Naomi to visit again!

Chinese Takeaway Night 🇨🇳🥢

What better way to round off our Chinese New Year celebrations than with a Chinese Takeaway!

We gathered in our Cinema room to enjoy a selection of dishes like Chow Mein, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Duck in Plum Sauce and even some King Prawns! 🥡

Everyone tucked in while we listened to some traditional Chinese Music and found out the Chinese Zodiac sign for the year we were born! A really lovely evening 🤗

Fresh Air, Natures Medicine💙

Even when it’s a bit chilly outside, here at The Chocolate Works we still like to get outside as much as possible!

We are so lucky to have the beautiful Peace Gardens on our doorstep! We love watching the squirrels running around, and seeing all of the flowers starting to bloom 🌸🌻

St Chads Tea Concert ⛪️🎶

Every month, we have the pleasure of visiting our local church, St Chads, for their Dementia Friendly Tea Concerts💙

They showcase a wide variety of local musicians in a relaxed environment, this month was ‘The Salus Trio’. We had such a lovely afternoon listening to their music, then enjoyed delicious cakes and a cup of tea afterwards😋🍰

Valentines Party 🥳❤️

At The Chocolate Works we know how to celebrate in style! So of course we had to throw a Valentines Party to celebrate all things love❤️

We were joined by the amazing Richard & Honey who played a mixture of love songs and some biggest hits of the 50s and 60s, then we were treated to Honey’s signature tricks at the end! 🐾

We topped off the afternoon with love potion cocktails and a buffet provided by our amazing kitchen team. A fantastic afternoon had by all😊❤️

We’ve loved hosting the Parkinson’s UK York group at Chocolate Works Care Village today for a wonderful music therapy session 🎶

It was a fantastic morning filled with music, movement and plenty of smiles, and we were delighted to welcome everyone into the home. We also made sure there were refreshments available so everyone could relax, chat and enjoy some time together after the session.

A big thank you to Parkinson’s UK York for joining us — we’re always proud to open our doors and support groups in the local community 💛
