World Prematurity Day is a special day dedicated to raising awareness for babies who arrive a little earlier than expected and the extra care they often need.

It’s an opportunity to celebrate their strength, acknowledge the challenges they and their families face, and recognise the incredible journey of premature babies everywhere.

This day means so much to us at York Neonatal Unit because it reflects the heart of what we do, supporting tiny babies, standing beside their families, and celebrating every milestone, no matter how small.

If you and your baby/babies have spent time on the York Neonatal Unit (formerly SCBU), we’d love to hear from you. 💜

The unit will soon be undergoing a refurbishment to create a more comfortable, supportive environment for babies and their families. Your experiences and insights are incredibly valuable in helping us shape these improvements.

This survey has been co-produced with the Trust and Neonatal Parents and Families in Yorkshire and Humber, it aims to ensure that the new unit truly meets the needs of neonatal families.

🎉 Today we launched the Tiny Lives Appeal! 👣

We are extremely proud to launch the , where we aim to raise £100,000 to support York Hospital’s Neonatal Unit (previously known as the Special Care Baby Unit) and help give every baby the best start in life 💛

Funds will enhance the unit with comforting, family-friendly features like reclining chairs, twin cots, and therapeutic skylights, creating a space that supports both babies and their families during an incredibly emotional time.
