A really powerful conversation with Paula McGowan OBE as part of our Believe in People series.

We spoke about the intersection of autism, learning disability and substance misuse, the risks of undiagnosed neurodivergence in services, and the harm caused when people are labelled as “chaotic” instead of being properly understood. Most of all, we talked about the importance of listening, believing people, and involving families when assessing risk and need.

This episode was recorded with the principles of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism firmly in mind, and aims to connect that learning to real-world frontline practice.
