Star of the Week is a brilliant but simple way to acknowledge people’s progress and effort. Cathy absolutely nailed the dead bug variations on the foam roller today! And she didn’t even have a wobbly side.

I love the reaction sometimes when people are “put on the board” 🌟 They revert to primary age children. It’s brilliant.

She shared this on her Facebook today and it’s made me super happy to know how much it perked her up today.

Unfortunately I had to cancel a class recently, as a couple had to drop out due to personal circumstances. It is a group of older ladies, with some
injuries/mobility problems so it’s a gentler, slower paced class.

I’d love to get it started again but need another couple to get it going again. I’m hoping to start a 6 week block at the start of November on a Thursday at 11.30am. Small group of 5 people maximum, so lots of attention and ability to tailor things as needed.

The ladies that will be coming back to the group have been chasing me to get it up and running again so they’re obviously missing it. Testament to the benefits it brings them, and could bring you too.

I’ve opened up a couple of extra slots for massage on Monday for the weary legs of the York Marathon runners. Legs only appointments (usually 30 minutes) will get an extra 10 minutes free on Monday only (if they sell out I might add some for Tuesday which is usually my day off).

I stepped outside to the studio to prepare for evening classes, and the sunshine is so gorgeous that I'm staying put. I've grabbed my latest book (Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, for anyone interested 🤓) and plan to bask in the warmth for the next hour. Space has become available in a class on a Thursday morning. I don’t currently have anybody on my waiting list for a morning class so am hoping I might hook somebody in here 🎣

The class with space in would suit a beginner if they were already fairly fit and mobile (without any major injuries). It would equally suit someone who has done tons of Pilates before. But we’re in very small groups which mean we can make most things work.

Maybe you have niggling back from sitting at a desk all day, or maybe you’re a runner or cyclist who is picking up some injuries or just feeling generally a bit stiff and achy, perhaps you haven’t exercised in some time but the kids are back to school this week and you want to do something for yourself.

Drop me a line, a new six week block starts this week, you could feel a whole lot better in just six weeks. 💪

My little studio is in my garden and a couple of weeks ago my neighbour commented on how much laughter she hears. She said “I hear it and think “she must have the best job in the world”.

Hearing that made my week. 😊

If you want to join us for movement and community and often lots of laughter get in touch as a few spots have become available with people off on travels over summer.

I have classes suitable for people new to Pilates but in pretty good overall health, classes for those looking for a bigger challenge and more strength work and classes for those who want to take it really easy with some gentle movement and stretching.

I have had a last minute space come up in a class on Thursday morning at 10.30am. It is a much gentler, slower paced class and would suit someone older looking to loosen aches and pains and gain strength safely.

My classes are very much “Pilates for Normal People” There is so much Pilates content about that’s all about the aesthetic and how people look but here we’re just helping people move better, stay fit through their aches and pains and relax in a small friendly group. I don’t take myself too seriously but I do want everybody that comes into my big Pilates shed to leave feeling better than when they arrived. That’s my only goal every day. If we learn something about ourselves and how we move all the better. If we learn something about someone else in the group brilliant. If we make someone smile or even laugh then big gold star. But this is relaxed, it’s fun, but it’s also personal, movement education and its community. It’s life.

Last class of the block for most groups next week and I have two spaces on a Wednesday evening at 5pm (the sunniest class of the week for the next couple of months, maybe even qualifies as “Hot Pilates”). If you’d like to nab a space in that one for the next six weeks just let m know.

I read about this on Andrew Huberman’s Instagram last week and have been doing it ever since. Four simple journal prompts to start the day.

I often think I’d like to journal more and go through fits and starts of doing something and nothing. But I can see this one lasting and possibly progressing.

Since starting it I am feeling like I’ve had a little win if the day’s plan is followed though (and I don’t overfill this I put down the basic outline of the day), I also feel like I’ve grown just in picking out something to watch out for and then it’s a prompt to myself to notice when that crops up (and I’m already noticing these things cropping up less as if by noting them first thing I’ve nipped it in the bud at the start of the day) and having something (small) to strive for I feel like I’m going above and beyond with what was just an easy win really.

I’d really recommend this practice and it takes me less than a minute each morning.

My husband, the great garage-tinkerer, has started a side hustle doing bike repairs. He is an absolute expert in anything with wheels, and machinery generally, plus bikes are his greatest love (maybe after his spaniel) so they’ll always be in safe hands. He can collect and drop off, so extra convenient if the bike isn’t useable.

I have two spaces for the next six week block, 9am and 5pm Wednesday. Both would suit someone with experience or a beginner if they are without any major injuries.

Six week block starts 9th April (no class 16th April) and it’s £78 for the block.
