Today is World Prematurity Day 💜

Here are some of the treats parents and babies will be enjoying on the unit! A BIG thank you to the support group and the ward team for making their World Prematurity Day a special one and one to remember. Today, we celebrate the courage of all families that have walked the NICU corridors and think of those babies who also could not come home.

If you and your baby/babies have spent time on the York Neonatal Unit (formerly SCBU), we’d love to hear from you. 💜

The unit will soon be undergoing a refurbishment to create a more comfortable, supportive environment for babies and their families. Your experiences and insights are incredibly valuable in helping us shape these improvements.

This survey has been co-produced with the Trust and Neonatal Parents and Families in Yorkshire and Humber, it aims to ensure that the new unit truly meets the needs of neonatal families.

From reclining chairs to twin cots and therapeutic skylights, your support will help transform clinical care into compassionate comfort.

These upgrades will create a calm and comforting space that supports families emotionally and physically.

❄️ Just a little update for those wanting to use the SCBU family passes over the winter...❄️

Askham Bryan Wildlife Park is now closed for the winter and will reopen from February half term.

Beetle Bank is no longer open on week days, just the weekends.

There's plenty of availability throughout the next few months to use our Beetle Bank passes, so please do get in touch to enjoy a day out with your family.
