In summer I made a short report on the topic of children's sports, I'm sure the topic is still relevant today. Here are the main points from there:
⚽️Studies do not support early sports specialization. The largest number of world-class athletes started their careers at 12-14 years old.
🎾Sports do not solve the problem of excess weight and posture disorders: valgus/varus, protruding tummy, wing-type shoulder blades, x-shaped legs, and of course scoliosis. Sports will strengthen the strong and mask the weak.
🏀The best types of physical activity for the first specialization are those where natural movements dominate: running, jumping, climbing, somersaults, and throwing. Hence the conclusion: athletics, rock climbing, artistic gymnastics and some types of martial arts (where there are no blows to growth zones).
🏐Here are two key points of consideration:
🏈Sensitive periods - development phases in which certain physical qualities develop better. Pre-puberty: flexibility and speed. Puberty: endurance and coordination. Post-puberty: strength. For boys and girls, these periods are different. The best time for the development of all qualities is the peak of growth activity.
⚾️Morphology:
1. Thin with long limbs - endurance.
2. Balanced physique - strength and endurance are equally developed.
3. Stocky, broad-shouldered - strength. There are sports where the development of one quality is predominantly required, and there are ones where multifunctionality is needed (all-around, team sports)
🥎How to do we create a movement habit for our children? Lead by example, promote active recreation, encourage outdoor games and any physical activity - these work best from childhood. Often it is enough to just not interfere, natural curiosity and excitement will make the child himself climb somewhere and catch up with someone. it is a way of knowing ourselves and our abilities
