Guernsey Quitline is launching two new clinics in January, to be offered in addition to the existing clinics, giving smokers wanting to quit the best possible chance of succeeding.

All clinics will offer free, expert stop smoking support from the Quitline specialist nurses, free ni****ne replacement therapy and access to prescribed medication. Smokers using specialist support alongside medication are up to three times more likely to quit successfully than those trying to quit on their own.

Appointments are one-to-one or for small groups of family and friends.

World AIDS day 1st December 2025 -free testing available at the Orchard Centre Guernsey or if you are in town pop into Choices who will be open 12-18:00.

Monday 1st December is World AIDS Day, with this year’s theme focusing on awareness, prevention and breaking down stigma.

To encourage and normalise HIV testing, the Orchard Centre sexual health clinic on Level 2 at the PEH will be running free, confidential ‘walk-in’ HIV testing on Monday 1st December.

The free testing is available from 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm but please contact the clinic on 01481 227707 if you can’t make this as an appointment can be made on a day and time to suit you.

Many people with HIV have no symptoms, and early diagnosis of HIV leads to effective treatment, saves lives and reduces the risk of transmission.

A great night was had by a team from Choices at the Big Music Quiz -thank you for organising such a fun event and thank you for the photos . We may not have done very well in the quiz but the meat draw winnings made up for it ! Thank you Surf and Turf Guernsey!

What a fantastic initiative from Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG and Guernsey Public Health- FREE blood pressure and cholesterol checks - only available until December so book now!

The Guernsey Chest and Heart are working with Public Health to identify those within our community who are unaware that they have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

What a fabulous initiative from Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG and Guernsey Public Health -free blood pressure and cholesterol checks

A new free service to help people find out if they have high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol is starting in September. This pilot scheme will run until December and is a joint initiative between Public Health and Guernsey Chest and Heart LBG to detect undiagnosed cases.

If left untreated, these can lead to serious health problems such as heart attacks, strokes and dementia.

You don’t need to book an appointment or be referred by a GP. Free drop-in clinics in September will be held at the Chest and Heart Centre at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
