Yara Ghana Limited has donated crop nutrition products valued at over GHC650,000 to various Municipal and District Assemblies as well as a cash donation to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in support of the 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration. Since Yara Ghana began operations in 2007, the company has consistently supported the National Farmers’ Day Celebrations by donating cash and crop nutrition solutions to support the Ministry’s awards to farmers.
According to Ms. Theresa Randolph, Country Manager of Yara Ghana Limited, the donation is a significant contribution toward the nationwide event, with various municipalities and districts expected to benefit.
“Today, we had the opportunity as Yara to donate a total amount of over GHC650,000 worth of crop nutrition products to various municipalities and districts across the country and a cash donation to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, a vital contribution towards the 41st Farmers’ Day Celebration here in Ghana,” she said.
Ms. Randolph described the gesture as an honour to the Ghanaian farmer and a demonstration of Yara’s belief in the important role farmers play in sustaining the nation’s agricultural sector. She further emphasized that the donation reflects Yara’s continuous support for Ghana’s agribusiness value chain. This comes at an opportune time when farmers have recorded bumper harvests, but are struggling with offtake, resulting in lower incomes to afford the right crop nutrition solutions to ensure optimal yields.
She noted that the company remains committed to supporting this year’s Farmers’ Day activities and will fully participate in the celebration from 1st – 5th December in Ho, Volta Region, to showcase what Yara provides in terms of crop nutrition solutions and offering practical agronomic knowledge sharing for improvement, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Ms. Randolph also expressed Yara’s strong alignment with this year’s Farmers’ Day theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” noting that it reflects the company’s global mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet. “We understand that this can only be achieved when all Ghanaians rally behind farmers and support agriculture as a whole.”
