GRNMA-GAR HOLDS EMERGENCY COUNCIL MEETING TO NOMINATE 1ST VICE CHAIRPERSON - 14/01/2026

The Greater Accra regional branch of the association today held an emergency council meeting to nominate a candidate to fill the 1st vice chairperson position.

In line with Constitutional provisions of the union, this was necessary to fill the position that became vacant as a result of the substantive 1st vice Chairman filing to contest the Regional Chairmanship position..

With Chairpersons and secretaries for all administrative districts partaking in the exercise, Ms. Kate Mensah Botchwey from the Weija-Gbawe district got confirmed as the 1st vice chairperson for the region, after beating her contender Mr. Coleman Anani-Jr Adator in a keen contest.

The region will converge again on 20th February 2026 to elect a substantive regional Chairman.

GRNMA-GAR HOLDS IT'S 4TH QUARTER COUNCIL MEETING. 18/12/2025

Yesterday at the regional secretariat,Zoti - Korle-bu, the regional council, which comprises of all Chairpersons and secretaries of all administrative districts of the association and the regional executive team, met for it's end of year deliberations.

Also joining the meeting was the Eastern Regional Chairman , Rev. Hayford Laryea, who was on a working visit.

The council also used the occasion to celebrate our reigning GAR best nurse/midwife 2025 Ms. Jane Ogeji Okere, who was recently crowned the 1st Runner up in the National best nurse/midwife award contest.

The event was also used to outdoor all aspirants who have filed for the regional chairmanship position.

On behalf of the regional council, we wish to thank all our cherished members who have stood with us throughout this year, and we are poised to keep fighting for your interest going into the new year.

Ms. JANET OGEJI OKERE ADJUDGED THE 1ST RUNNER UP AT THE 6TH GRNMA ANNUAL DINNER AND AWARD NIGHT - 13/12/2025

It was all glamorous as the best nurses/midwives from the 10 administrative regions of the association battled it out for the overall national honours.

With most key players in the nursing and health space gathered at the banquet hall of the prestigious Kempinski hotel, speakers took turns in acknowledging the giant strides that have been made in the nursing space over the past year, whiles also saluting the efforts of nurses and midwives across the country.
Also, gracing the ceremony as the special guest of honour was His royal highness Osagyefo Amoatia Oforipanyin, Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa.

At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Janet Ogeji Okere, a midwife attached to the Shai-Osudoku district hospital and the reigning GAR best nurse/midwife, was adjudged the 1st Runner Up for the overall best national best nurse award.

Other winners from the Greater Accra region were:

Chief Supt. Marufatu Essie Briamah award - Ms. Theresah Sarfo-Bonsu (Ghana police hospital)

Mrs. Ruth Aku Gyan rural service award - Ms. Irene Sapomah Obeng

Another achievement chalked was our guesthouse being adjudged the 2nd runner up in the 2025 GRNMA best guesthouse awards.

The leadership of the GAR-GRNMA celebrates all our award winners. We are truly proud of them all, and we know that in the near future the ultimate crown will be for one of our dedicated GAR members.

The day's activities included reports from the various standing committees as well as specialized societies being presented to the conference for scrutiny of their activities carried out within the past 2 years.
