Two(2) University Beauty Queens drown during photo shoot towards an event dubbed *FACE OF USAG 2018*
Two finalists of the “Face of University Students Association USAG” Beauty Pageant, were who were supposed to attend the grand finale of the event to be hosted tonight at the University of Cape Coast (NEC) NEC auditorium have died by drowning, MyNewsGh.com has learnt.
The deceased persons identified as Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu who represents the University of Ghana and Sara Kwarteng of the University of Education-Mampong Campus went to Oasis beach in Cape Coast for the photo shoot only to be struck by the disaster.
According to sources, the incident happened on Thursday night when the strong waves of the ocean swept towards the shores and washed them away they were on a rock taking images.
Director of Public Affairs of the University of Cape Coast, Major (rtd) Baah Bentum, who confirmed the unfortunate death of the two Beauty Queens, revealed that they were part of a group of students who were attending the annual congress of the University Students Association (USAG) hosted by the UCC.
A gentleman believed to be the cameraman who also sustained severe injuries is on admission at the University of Cape Coast hospital while the bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited in the morgue pending an autopsy.
It is unclear if Organisers of the event will still go ahead with the contest having been struck by this tragedy in the wake of attempts by authorities of the Cape Coast University in collaboration with the Students Representative Council to convey the sad news to the bereaved.
