What is diabetes?

Diabetes simply refers to a condition where there is a constantly high amount of glucose(a type of sugar that the body uses in its metabolic activities) in the blood. It does not necessarily result from consuming sugary foods. Constantly high amounts of glucose in your blood can cause eye, heart, kidney and liver problems. It is a silent killer, if left undetected. It can be successfully managed with appropriate medications. Diabetes is not necessarily a disease of old age. It can affect anyone. Please get your blood sugar checked today.

Q: It seems like a number of people I know are coming down with the flu or some kind of infection. How do I avoid falling sick too?

A: The most effective way to prevent infections such as coughs and colds - even typhoid - is to practice proper hand washing. Wash your hands with soap and clean running water as often as possible. Alternatively you can use a hand sanitizer if your hands are not visibly soiled .
