***Health Benefit of Lactoferrin in Colostrum:

Lactoferrin: As an iron-binding protein with antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, lactoferrin has been used to help treat diseases such as cancer, Hepatitis B and C, Flu virus, Human papilloma virus (HPV), Respiratory syncytial virus, Polio virus, herpes etc. When lactoferrin binds to iron, it takes away the iron that pathogens would otherwise use to help replicate themselves.

**How Does Lactoferrin Work**?

Lactoferrin utilizes various mechanisms to attack and destroy viruses. These include:

1. Competing against viruses for binding sites on target cells

2. Binding directly to structural proteins on viruses, and by doing so, deactivating them.

3. Interrupting hemagglutination (clumping of red blood cells) that occurs due to the flu virus

4. Limiting the activity of viral enzymes that are required for viral replication

5. Working in combination with various antiviral drugs

In terms of pathogen activity, lactoferrin delivers consistent support. It has been shown to work against bacteria, fungi, and amebic parasites.

At the same time, lactoferrin promotes the growth of Lactobacilli, Bifidobacteria, and other beneficial bacteria and ensures these bacteria can successfully enter the digestive tract.

Colostrum is the first lacteal secretion of the mammary gland prior to and after parturition. How insulin works

Insulin is a hormone that comes from the gland situated behind and below the stomach (pancreas). The pancreas secretes insulin into the bloodstream. The insulin circulates, enabling sugar to enter your cells.Insulin lowers the amount of sugar in your bloodstream. As your blood sugar level drops, so does the secretion of insulin from your pancreas.

The role of glucose

Glucose — a sugar — is a main source of energy for the cells that make up muscles and other tissues.Glucose comes from two major sources: food and your liver. Sugar is absorbed into the bloodstream, where it enters cells with the help of insulin.
Your liver stores and makes glucose. When your glucose levels are low, such as when you haven't eaten in a while, the liver breaks down stored glycogen into glucose to keep your glucose level within a normal range.

In type 2 diabetes, this process doesn't work well. Instead of moving into your cells, sugar builds up in your bloodstream. As blood sugar levels increase, the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas release more insulin, but eventually these cells become impaired and can't make enough insulin to meet the body's demands.
