World Sight Day 2025 — “Love Your Eyes”

Blindness and visual impairment remain a major global concern, with over 2.2 billion people affected; and at least 1 billion cases preventable or unaddressed (WHO, 2023). Sadly, 90% of those living with vision loss are in low- and middle-income countries.

In response to the global call to action, Tamale Eye Hospital (TEH) joined this year’s World Sight Day celebration under the theme “Love Your Eyes.”

To mark the occasion, TEH carried out the following activities:
📺 A TV campaign in collaboration with Sagani TV to raise public awareness about eye health.
👁️ A free community eye screening and educational talk at the Rock Assemblies of God Church, Bilpela, Tamale.

A total of 180 people were screened, with:
• 👓 25 people receiving free reading glasses courtesy of Zera Missions Africa
• 🌟 30 cataract cases identified; all set to receive free surgery from TEH on 23rd October 2025

We remain committed to ensuring that quality eye care is accessible, available, and affordable for everyone, everywhere.
