As an annual intervention activity, with support from the Global Fund Malaria Grant, the ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐น ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ (๐ก๐ ๐๐ฃ) successfully concluded a three-week ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ (๐ ๐๐ ) Training on the 20th February 2026 for health care workers across all seven regions, the five general hospitals, and the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in The Gambia. A total of 85 clinicians including Medical Officers, Nurses, Midwives, Physician Assistants, Laboratory and Pharmacy personnel were trained using simplified manuals and supervised clinical practice in 3 different batches.
This training is designed to ensure prompt malaria diagnosis and effective treatment at every level of our health care system.
The training Objectives are to:
โข Equip clinicians with skills for diagnosing and managing malaria
โข Strengthening adherence to national treatment guidelines
โข Improve emergency and supportive care for severe malaria
โข Enhance health education and data recording practices
โข Promote knowledge sharing among health teams
This yearโs training has strengthened malaria case management capacity nationwide, advancing NMCPโs strategic goal of early diagnosis and prompt treatment a critical step toward malaria elimination in The Gambia.
