UTGSU: THE HEALTHCARE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PARTNERS WITH UniGaMSA

Issued on Thursday, 09th March, 2023

The University of The Gambia Students’ Union is pleased to announce that the Healthcare Improvement Project under the leadership of Queen Nafisatou Ceesay, in partnership with the University of The Gambia Medical Students’ Association (UniGaMSA), will be embarking on a Blood Donation Drive on the 15th and 16th of March, 2023 at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul and the UTG Brikama Campus respectively from 9:00—17:00 hrs.

The Union heartily applauds this initiative and encourages all and sundry to join this noble cause by either being a donor, or encourage others to be part of the donors. Blood donation is a significant act of humanity that has the potential of saving several lives, one of which could be yours or that of a close associate. Therefore, no drop is insignificant!

That said, be it recalled that the Healthcare Improvement Project was launched earlier last year with the unfettered intention of changing the dynamics of The Gambia’s healthcare system by, inter alia, advocating for accessible and affordable quality health services. In this regard, since its launching, significant strides have been made, the most recent of which is the brokering of a partnership with UniGaMSA in this Blood Donation Drive.

Significantly, it is hoped that the Project’s partnership with UniGaMSA will be of value, as the latter’s membership has expertise on health-related issues. On this premise, the Union wishes to extend its gratitude to the leadership of UniGaMSA for the thoughtful and selfless decision to partner with the Project on this life-saving cause.

Finally, the Union wishes to once again state its staunch commitment to supporting this Project and all other initiatives that are of great interest to its membership. In this regard, the Union encourages students to continue taking bold initiatives that could inspire a transformative agenda and positively re-shape the narratives in this country.
