Mosquito-borne diseases like malaria continue to threaten lives and communities worldwide. This year’s theme. “Unite to Fight the Bite: Strengthening Community Action Against Mosquito-borne Diseases” underscores the urgent need for collective responsibility and community-driven action to reduce mosquito populations, prevent transmission, and protect families.

In The Gambia, The Gambia Red Cross Society, with funding from CIDCA and technical support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, is implementing the “Accelerating Malaria Elimination in The Gambia” project.

Through this initiative with National Malaria Control Program , communities are being empowered with social and behavioural change communication, strengthened community case management, vector control interventions, the distribution of Insecticides Treated Nets, as well as seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaigns.

On this World Mosquito Day, we stand united to fight the bite, protect lives, and bring The Gambia closer to a malaria-free future.

Our prayers are with all those involved in the devastating truck accident in Kafuta Village, Kombo East District in of The Gambia. GPlus Gambia Ambulances and Volunteers of The Gambia Red Cross Society with the Health Facilities and Community Members are on the ground providing Emergency Medical and First Aid Services to the survivors.

Join us in congratulating Muhammed Lamin Kebbeh and Abdou Majid Jallow on their successful completion of the Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Trainer of Trainers (TOT) certification from the American Heart Association through the Kenya Red Cross Training Institute. This was made possible with the support of Gplus Emergency Response Services, aimed at strengthening our team’s capacity and advancing our vision of Gambia to become one of the first Training Centers in West Africa. We are confident their knowledge will play a vital role in our continued growth and impact.
