Did you know Deficiency is one of the commonest causes of anemia in pregnancy?
The effects of anemia in pregnancy sometimes lead to premature births, low birth weight and a weak immune system. Pregnant women should focus on nutrient-rich foods to prevent anemia. Incorporate iron-rich sources like meats, poultry, and fish, along with fortified cereals. Don't forget about folate-rich food such as leafy greens, beans, Iron and Folic Acid supplementation to support red blood cell production. Also, add fruits to your diet to aid in the absorption of iron by the body. Lastly, remember that a diversified and balanced diet prevents fetal nutritional deficiency; anemia and boosts the mother’s immune system (the ability to fight infection).
