🎉 The 42nd Ioannina Courses in Pathology (IUCP 2026) opened with a memorable and meaningful first day, dedicated to Liver Pathology: Neoplastic and Non-Neoplastic.
During the opening ceremony, participants were welcomed by Dr. Georgia Kafiri, on behalf of the President of the Hellenic Society of Pathology, Professor Eleni Kourea.
It was a great honor to welcome our distinguished guests and invite them to address the audience:
• The Rector of the University of Ioannina, Professor Anna Batistatou, an esteemed member of the pathology community.
• On behalf of the Municipality of Ioannina, the Deputy Mayor, Professor Sofia Markoula.
• Representing the Medical Association of Ioannina, Dr. Artemis Lambrou, Private Practice Clinical Pathologist.
🕊️ Prior to the Keynote Lecture, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Professor Dimitris Stefanou, Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Ioannina.
Professor Stefanou was a prominent figure of the School of Medicine at the University of Ioannina and served for many years as Director of the Laboratory of Pathology.
🎤 The first day concluded with an inspiring Keynote Lecture titled “History of the Liver”, delivered by Professor D. Tiniakos, offering a fascinating perspective on the evolution of liver pathology.

🔬 The first day of IUCP 2026: Liver Pathology: neoplastic and non-neoplastic is coming to an end — and what an inspiring start it has been!
🌞 We were delighted to welcome distinguished faculty members and participants to sunny Ioannina. A full congress hall, vibrant discussions, and truly engaging lectures have set the tone for the days ahead.
🌍 Alongside leading Greek experts, internationally renowned scientists from the United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland honored us with their presence, enriching the Course with their experience and insight.
🤝 We are also thrilled to host participants from Romania, Turkey, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Slovenia, highlighting the growing international spirit of the Ioannina Courses in Pathology.
🔎 Today, we began our deep dive into Liver Pathology, exploring both neoplastic and non-neoplastic entities through interactive lectures and stimulating exchanges.

🔬The Hellenic Society of Pathology is organizing the 42nd Ioannina Courses in Pathology (IUCP), which will be held on February 27th – March 1st, 2026, at the Epirus Palace Hotel - Congress & Spa in Ioannina.
📅Save the Date!
🧐IUCP are postgraduate courses on selected topics of Human Pathology, and are organized every year, since 1996.
👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️The aims of the courses are to provide an in-depth review of each topic, bring together young Pathologists and Tutors, who are experts in the corresponding topics of Pathology, and engage in active participation all colleagues during the discussions following the lectures and the slide seminars.

Η Ελληνική Εταιρεία Κλινικής και Μοριακής Κυτταρολογίας γιόρτασε χθες 20/9 τα 50 της χρόνια με σημαντικότατο κλινικό σεμινάριο (workshop) στο οποίο ήταν προσκεκλημένοι διδάσκοντες οι παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας καθηγητές Zubair Baloch και Rita Nayar.
Η Ελληνική Εταιρεία Παθολογικής Ανατομικής χαιρέτησε την εκδήλωση, συνεχάρη την Εταιρεία για τη δράση της και ευχήθηκε στους συναδέλφους Κυτταρολόγους και την Εταιρεία τους πολλά και δημιουργικά χρόνια και γόνιμη συνεργασία με την ΕΕΠΑ.

Η Ελληνική Κοινότητα των Παθολογοανατόμων αποχαιρετά με βαθιά θλίψη τον αγαπητό συνάδελφο και Χαρισματικό Άνθρωπο Θόδωρο Φιλιππίδη.
Εξαιρετικός διαγνώστης και επιστήμονας πάντα πρόθυμος να συνδράμει, με χαμηλούς τόνους και ευγένεια.
Σημαντική η προσφορά στην Ελληνική Παθολογοανατομική κοινότητα έχοντας διατελέση μέλος διοικητικών συμβουλίων από τις θέσεις του Ειδικού Γραμματέα (1998-2000), του Γενικού Γραμματέα (2006-2008) και του Αντιπροέδρου (2008-2010 και 2010-2012).

Το εύρος της γνώσης του δεν περιοριζόταν μόνο στην επιστήμη του. Την πλούσια παιδεία του στη γλώσσα, την ιστορία και τη φιλοσοφία μοιραζόταν με τους φίλους, τους συνεργάτες και τους συναδέλφους του.

Πράος, μειλίχιος, ευγενής, ποιητής με χιούμορ και γλυκό χαμόγελο που πάντα θα θυμόμαστε.

Εκφράζουμε τα ειλικρινή μας συλλυπητήρια στην οικογένεια και στους οικείους του.
