Είναι πιο αστείο από το γαδολινιο!
They look like something out of a sci-fi horror film, glowing eyes, skeletal faces, and haunting grins. But believe it or not, these viral images aren’t fakes or Hollywood VFX. They’re real MRI scans of human fetuses in the womb. Shared widely across social media, these scans have terrified some, fascinated others, and reminded many just how surreal science can appear when it peers into the unseen.
While MRI scans aren’t a routine part of pregnancy, they are used when doctors need a deeper look, especially if there’s concern about the baby's growth or development. These detailed scans can reveal neck, spinal, thoracic, or abdominal malformations, often before an ultrasound can. The reason they look so eerie? The eyes and brain emit stronger signals, appearing brighter, while softer tissues appear darker, giving that glowing, alien-like effect.
Fascinating and fearsome, these scans may look like something from another world, but they’re actually helping save lives on this one.
