Thank you very much for honoring me for my service as the team physician of Athinaikos Women’s Basketball Team during an era that wrote unbelievable chapters of sporting glory!
Let us remember those moments:
On April 12, 2009, Athinaikos became the first team in the history of Greece’s women’s basketball first division to win the Championship undefeated.
During the 2009–2010 season, Athinaikos achieved what no other women’s basketball team in Greece had ever done before — winning the Triple Crown: the National Championship, the Greek Cup, and the European Championship. It thus became only the third basketball club in Greek history, across both men’s and women’s divisions, to do so — following only Panathinaikos and Olympiacos Piraeus in men’s basketball.
On November 12, 2011, by defeating F.E.A. with a score of 83–71 at Ergani, Athinaikos broke the long-standing record of 81 consecutive wins held since the 1980s by the men’s team of Aris Thessaloniki.
Then, on February 18, 2012, with an away victory over Kronos Agiou Dimitriou, Athinaikos surpassed the legendary winning streak of the University of Connecticut (UConn) women’s team, achieving its 91st consecutive win — a feat officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. .wbc
