Our spine is not just the stack of bones and gel-like cushions that keeps us upright, allows us to move etc.
It's the main channel of information and signals between our brain and the rest of our body.
It's the main channel of flow of energy within us. Over 72,000 nadis (energy channels) along the spine let the energy flow. Energy we create with our practice in yoga, with our words, thoughts and actions.
To be able to have/feel that energy shift inside us we need to have a "young" "flexible" spine.
Spinal twist (connected to the breath/movement and sound) "lubricate" our spinal column keeping it in full working order.
