👨⚕️Patella – Modern Surgical Options & a Truly Personalized Approach
🔹 dislocation is a common yet complex knee condition, frequently seen in younger and sport-active individuals. While the first episode can sometimes be managed conservatively, every recurrent dislocation is essentially considered surgical. This is because is strongly associated with anatomical abnormalities and mechanical factors that rarely correct themselves without intervention.
🔸In our , we follow a highly , “à la carte” strategy, selecting the appropriate combination of procedures for each patient after a thorough preoperative assessment. We rely on key measurements such as TT–TG, TT–PCL, Caton–Deschamps index, the patellar tracking pattern, and the presence or severity of trochlear dysplasia, according to the Dejour classification.
▶️The procedures we perform include:
• Medial Ligament (MPFL) Reconstruction: restores the primary stabilizer of the patella.
• Tibial Transfer (TTT): realigns the patellar tendon in order to correct abnormal tracking.
• Trochleoplasty: indicated in trochlear dysplasia, aiming primarily to remove the femoral osteophyte (bump/spur) and reshape the trochlear groove for improved stability.
• Lateral , when appropriate, to reduce excessive lateral forces.
🔸 , in particular, is a technically demanding operation requiring years of focused expertise. In our clinic, we have introduced an innovative trochleoplasty technique, performed without open incisions and without surgical exposure of the joint – a unique approach in Greece. This method significantly reduces postoperative and supports faster rehabilitation.
👨⚕️By respecting the individuality of every case, we design a fully tailored surgical plan, offering the most advanced and effective solutions for a stable, functional, and pain-free . Thus, we can guarantee a stable and pain-free joint. This way we can reduce to the minimum, possible future and obviously a safe return to sport is guaranteed as well!
