«Σήμερα, στην Αίγυπτο τα νεογέννητα ελέγχονται για 19 διαταραχές εντός των πρώτων 72 ωρών της ζωής τους. Αυτό αντικατοπτρίζει μια σταθερή θεσμική δέσμευση για έγκαιρη παρέμβαση και βελτίωση των αποτελεσμάτων της υγείας» ανέφερε μεταξύ άλλων ο Pr. Mohamed Hassany, Assistant Minister of Health for Projects and Public Health Initiatives, Egypt μιλώντας στο κοινό του 6ᵗʰ International Conference on Rare Diseases, το οποίο συνδιοργάνωσε η Ένωση Σπανίων Ασθενών Ελλάδος (Ε.Σ.Α.Ε. / Rare Diseases Greece ΕΣΑΕ) με την Boussias events.
Η Αίγυπτος έκανε ένα ακόμα σημαντικό βήμα με τη δημιουργία του Ταμείου για τις Σπάνιες Παθήσεις. «Ο μηχανισμός αυτός διασφαλίζει ότι η πρόσβαση σε σωτήριες θεραπείες καθορίζεται από τις κλινικές ανάγκες και όχι από την οικονομική δυνατότητα, ενσωματώνοντας έτσι την ισότητα στη δομή του συστήματος Υγείας» εξήγησε ο ίδιος.

“Today in Egypt, newborns are screened for 19 disorders within the first 72 hours of life. This reflects a strong institutional commitment to early intervention and improved health outcomes,” stated Prof. Mohamed Hassany, Assistant Minister of Health for Projects and Public Health Initiatives, Egypt, speaking to the audience of the 6ᵗʰ International Conference on Rare Diseases, co-organized by the Hellenic Rare Disease Alliance (E.S.A.E. / Ένωση Σπανίων Ασθενών Ελλάδος - Rare Diseases Greece and Boussias Events.
Egypt has taken another important step with the establishment of the Rare Diseases Fund. “This mechanism ensures that access to life-saving treatments is determined by clinical need rather than financial capability, thereby embedding equity into the structure of the healthcare system,” he explained.

Πάνω από 500.000 οικογένειες επηρεάζονται από τις σπάνιες ασθένειες στην Ελλάδα. «Το υπουργείο Ανάπτυξης υλοποιεί στοχευμένες δράσεις που ενισχύουν την ερευνητική δραστηριότητα και τις υποδομές, ενώ προωθούν τη συνεργασία μεταξύ ιδιωτικού και δημόσιου τομέα» ανέφερε μεταξύ άλλων ο Stavros Kalafatis υφυπουργός Ανάπτυξης, αρμόδιος για την Ερεύνα και την Καινοτομία στο χαιρετισμό του στο 6ᵗʰ International Conference on Rare Diseases, το οποίο συνδιοργάνωσε η Ένωση Σπανίων Ασθενών Ελλάδος - Rare Diseases Greece με την Boussias events.

Are we doing enough for Rare Diseases?
