RTsafeGulf Becomes the First Company globally Licensed by Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation to Provide Radiotherapy Medical Physics Services in the United Arab Emirates

RTsafe announces that RTsafeGulf Limited, its regional entity based in Masdar City Free Zone, Abu Dhabi, has received an official licence from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) to provide specialized medical physics and radiation safety services in radiotherapy in the United Arab Emirates.

With this authorization, RTsafeGulf becomes the first company internationally licensed by FANR to offer independent radiotherapy radiation safety services in the country.

The licence enables RTsafeGulf to provide Radiation Safety Assessments, Medical Physics Services and Consultation, and Clinical and Dosimetry Audits for photon and ion-beam radiotherapy, supporting hospitals and cancer centers in maintaining the highest standards of treatment quality and patient safety.

RTsafe established RTsafeGulf in Abu Dhabi specifically to meet the UAE’s regulatory requirement for licensed technical service providers to operate through a locally established entity. The company’s presence at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi positions it to support the continued expansion of advanced radiotherapy services in the UAE.
By bringing internationally recognized expertise in radiotherapy quality assurance and independent auditing to the country, RTsafeGulf aims to contribute to the optimization of radiotherapy practices and the continuous improvement of radiation safety standards nationwide.

🎯23 Centers, One QA Phantom: Benchmarking SIMT SRS across European

🌐In collaboration with 23 radiotherapy centers across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the PRIME phantom provided by RTsafe, equipped with ionization chamber and polymer gel dosimeters was used to evaluate variations in infrastructure, planning, delivery and QA for single-isocenter multitarget (SIMT) SRS.

🔎This study revealed notable differences in planning criteria, motion management, QA approaches and treatment platforms, underscoring the need for greater harmonization to improve reproducibility and patient safety
Standardized phantom-based testing can enable meaningful benchmarking across institutions and supports the development of best practices for complex treatments.

🎯Han et al. (2019) demonstrate how RTsafe’s PRIME phantom enables rigorous end-to-end validation of motion management and plan adaptation on the Leksell Gamma Knife Icon, supporting safe and accurate delivery of modern stereotactic radiosurgery.
🎯Across 13 challenging motion and set-up scenarios, including near-threshold displacements, coughing events, treatment interruptions, and pitch errors, the motion management system demonstrated reliable dosimetric and geometric accuracy.
