The cervix is the narrow opening between the uterus and the va**na, acting like a smart biological gatekeeper. During most of the menstrual cycle, it stays firm and closed, producing thick mucus that blocks germs and harmful bacteria from entering the uterus. Around ovulation, it softens and opens slightly, releasing fertile mucus that helps s***m travel easily toward the egg—nature’s perfect timing.

During pregnancy, the cervix becomes strong and tightly sealed, holding the baby safely inside the uterus for months. When labor begins, it slowly softens, shortens, and opens to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal. Even during menstruation, the cervix plays a role by allowing menstrual blood to flow out of the body smoothly.

Often ignored and rarely discussed, the cervix silently protects fertility, supports pregnancy, and safeguards reproductive health. Understanding your cervix means understanding your body better—and caring for it can make a lifelong difference.

WHY BREECH DELIVERY IS D@NGER00US.

✅ HEAD ENTRAPMENT: The baby's body may deliver, but the cervix may not be dilated enough for the larger, firmer head to pass through. This can cause the head to get stuck, which is a life-threatening medical emergency.

✅ UMBILICAL CORD PROLAPSE: As the baby moves down the birth canal, the umbilical cord can slip past the baby's body and become compressed against the mother's pelvis. This cuts off or severely limits the baby's oxygen and bl@ supply, potentially leading to brain damage or death.

✅ BIRTH TRAUMA: The physical stress of a breech delivery can result in injuries to the baby, including:

✅ Broken or dislocated bones in the legs, arms, or hips.

✅ Nerve damage, such as Erb’s palsy, caused by stretching the nerves in the neck or shoulders.

✅ Internal organ damage from pressure applied to the baby's abdomen during delivery.

✅Oxygen Deprivation (Asphyxia): Delays in delivering the head or compression of the cord can cause birth asphyxia, which can lead to long-term conditions like cerebral palsy or developmental delays.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) may not be the first thought for clinicians presented with a pregnant woman with leg swelling or sudden shortness of breath, but prompt evaluation for thromboembolism could be lifesaving. And D-dimer testing alone may not reveal the full spectrum of risk.

Pregnant women and women in the postpartum period carry a four- to fivefold higher risk for thromboembolism than nonpregnant women, and about 80% of these events are venous, reported the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) http://ms.spr.ly/6187tWjKZ
