Selected as an Editor’s Choice paper from our October issue, this study by Julia Bosdou and team at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presents the results of a novel investigation to estimate the minimum number of oocytes retrieved based on the follicular diameter on the day of triggering final oocyte maturation in women undergoing ovarian stimulation for IVF.

This work reflects real clinical practice, presenting a proof of concept methodology that IVF centres may employ to establish their own thresholds which after validation, can be used for patient counselling and to facilitate the workload of the IVF laboratory.
