What is ORGONITE and where does it come from?
The idea of orgone energy predates orgonite. It began with Wilhelm Reich (1897–1957) — an Austrian psychoanalyst and student of Freud.
Reich’s core ideas:
• He believed there was a universal life force that he called “orgone energy.”
• Reich thought this energy was everywhere — in the air, bodies, and the environment.
• He built devices called orgone accumulators (metal and organic layers) that he claimed could collect and concentrate this energy.
🔹 From Orgone to Orgonite
Years later — in the 1990s — a man named Karl Hans Welz is credited with popularizing what we now call orgonite.
Karl Hans Welz was working with:
• Piezoelectric crystals (especially quartz)
• Resin + metal combinations
• Concepts of life force / subtle energy
Welz’s intention:
Instead of just accumulating energy like Reich’s orgone boxes, Welz proposed a material that could transform stagnant or “negative” energy into a more positive flow.
He combined:
• Organic resin
• Metal shavings
• Quartz crystals
The theory was that:
• As the resin cures, it compresses the quartz
• Metals and organics interact with subtle energies
• This creates a device that can influence the environment’s energy field in positive ways
This material became known as orgonite.
Welz and others in that community wanted:
✨ more balanced energy around people
✨ emotional calm
✨ improved wellbeing
✨ harmonious living spaces
— especially in environments that felt “stagnant” or “heavy.”
🎯 The Intention Behind Orgonite
While the specific theories vary by practitioner, the general intentions are:
💫 Energy transformation
Instead of blocking energy (like some EMF devices claim to do), orgonite is meant to:
✔ absorb
✔ transform
✔ harmonize
… the subtle life-force energy in a space.
🌿 Supporting wellbeing
Many people use orgonite to support:
• stress relief
• better sleep
• emotional balance
• meditation and mindfulness
• a sense of peace in the home
