‼️GPS Quantifies Output. Biomechanics Explains Strategy.

✅GPS describes the external load :speed, distance, intensity.
✅Biomechanics reveals the movement strategy behind it, shaping efficiency, tissue stress, and injury risk.

❗️Two athletes can reach the same velocity with completely different kinematic patterns.

⁉️ So what shows what GPS can not?

✅Pelvic/trunk kinematics and foot/strike mechanics early indicators of compensation and altered load distribution.

🫡For performance physios, integrating load data with movement behaviour is essential : without both, readiness cannot be accurately interpreted.

🎓Doctorate Journey Completed

Grateful, proud, and reflective today.

The research in Sports Medicine & Applied Psychophysiology at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid Universidad Europea my PhD has come to an end with an unexpected “Outstanding” evaluation.

🔬A research applied in high pressure environments from military and air-force tactical units to elite sport , proving that science achieves meaning only when it translates into action.

🫡It became a mirror of my own path: rebuilding, adapting, and staying focused when everything had to be faced alone.
Resilience isn’t born overnight but forged in silence, through discipline and the choice to keep going when no one sees the effort.

🙏My deepest gratitude to José Francisco Tornero Aguilera and Vicente Javier Clemente Suárez for their trust, mentorship, and guidance throughout this process. Special Credits: Ismael Martínez Guardado, Alexandra Martín Rodríguez and Jaime Gil Cabrera for being present and sharing this milestone moment with me!

🤍Last but not least, to my current team at Juventus FC thank you for welcoming me into an environment that values science and quiet hard work and for allowing me the space to close this chapter while building a new one.

To everyone chasing something meaningful: stay disciplined, stay curious, and never stop learning.

✨ Che ognuno di noi continui a crescere con passione, curiosità e coraggio.

Keep learning, keep building, keep moving. 🖤

Ευχαριστώ 🇬🇷

Our study in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.

📄 Title: Effectiveness of Neuromuscular Training in Preventing Lower Limb Soccer Injuries: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

⚡Why Does This Matter for Sports Medicine?

Lower limb injuries remain one of the biggest challenges in football, affecting performance, longevity, and career progression. This study provides clear evidence that neuromuscular training (NMT) ,especially through structured programs like FIFA 11+ can significantly reduce injury risk.

😮But what does that mean for practical application?

✅ Player adherence and coach education play a key role in injury prevention, directly influencing the effectiveness of neuromuscular training programs.

✅Female players tend to benefit more from neuromuscular training, likely due to biomechanical, hormonal, and training-related factors (especially for ACL).

✅Training duration (10 vs. 20 minutes) appears less critical than consistency, reinforcing the importance of regular implementation over session length.

👩‍🔬What’s Next?

If we know that structured neuromuscular training reduces injuries, why isn’t it a universal standard across all levels of football? How can we ensure players, coaches, and medical teams implement these programs consistently and effectively?

A huge thanks to my co-authors and everyone dedicated to advancing injury prevention in football.
Let’s keep it up 🙌

Time has passed since Isokimetic FIFA Medical Conference in Madrid 2025 🇪🇸

Some stories deserve to be told late, not for recognition, but to honour what truly mattered: the trust, the resilience, and the work that never made the headlines.

🏟️ I had the privilege of presenting two scientific communications at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium reaching the finals.

🎯 Finalist Presentation
“Pioneering Achilles Tendon Rehabilitation: A Narrative of Science and Resilience”

More than a presentation but a lived journey. A process built day by day with an athlete who gave everything, and a team that believed in science-based care when it mattered most.

⚽️That daily trust was the real success.

🎯 Presentation 2
“Stress and Performance: From Tactical Environments to Football” Rooted in my PhD research bridging military stress to improve elite football performance.

📌 Sharing now to remember :
Success in a medical department isn’t defined by trophies it’s the quiet wins, the avoided setbacks, the players who return not just to play, but to thrive.

🙏 Grateful to the athlete who trusted fully her unique journey since 2023
🫡To the medical team who supported science and stood behind the scenes.
✌️To those who shared long hours, hard days, and silent wins and shaped more than a case.

🤝 Thank you and the team for a world-class congress and to every colleague I was lucky to meet: your energy, humility, and smiles reminded me that no matter what happens in life, we must keep learning, keep serving, and keep smiling…😊

📍Athens 2026 🇬🇷 is next and I more than proud to see my country host what comes after.

✈️⚽️ From combat zones to football fields.

Honored to present at the 1st International Congress on Stress & Psychophysiology, hosted by Universidad Europea de Madrid and the Unit for Armed Forces Security Management (UGFAS) and USAC San Cristóbal.

What was once confidential is now shared bridging tactical stress science with elite football performance.

🧠💥 In vivo research, born in military environments, now shaping how we upgrade train, test, and perform under pressure.
Because real stress doesn’t happen in a lab!!!

📊 What we measure under fire, can be applied on the pitch.

🫡Grateful to those who believe that pushing knowledge forward is what truly drives success.

Keep moving !!!

Thank you to the ones behind the scenes!!

💥What can Change the ACL Game??

🔬Our latest study, published in Sports journal, asked a simple question with deep implications:

⁉️Can an unilateral strength program reduce ACL injury risk in elite female footballers?

The results:
• CMAS scores improvement
• High-risk movement patterns reduced
• Gains in knee alignment, foot placement & core stability.

But beyond data, this reflects a growing truth:

✅✅✅As sports physios, we must unlearn outdated rehab templates…RTP is not just an old checklist!!

📈It’s an evolving science : demanding deeper biomechanics, neuromuscular precision, and context-specific reloading.

The next step in ACL prevention?🤷‍♀️

📚 Why do young athletes face the highest ACL reinjury rates?

📉 Returning before 9 months without hitting strength & function targets = 4x higher reinjury risk!

⚽ Female athletes = 2.7x more likely to suffer a second ACL injury
⚠️ Graft failures > contralateral injuries
⏳ Longer recovery = better long-term outcomes

🧠 Why are females more at risk?
Anatomy, hormones, neuromuscular control & increased knee laxity all play a role.

✅ Quad strength & full rehab compliance

New insight from BJSM (2025):
⚡ Sprint mechanics linked to injury risk
⚠️ Poor form = increased strain on the knee & hamstrings
✅ Sprint Mechanics Assessment Score (S-MAS) helps identify risk patterns

🧐Return to field = key physio checkpoint:
• Sprint technique
• Deceleration + change of direction
• Load response under real movement

⚠️Keep monitoring RTP: most re-injuries happen within 12 months!!!

💬Progression is earned …. not rushed

👑 Bottom line:
Rehab isn’t just about healing the knee…
It’s about rebuilding the athlete.

Ankle Sprains 🤔

💥 Too late or too early = delayed recovery + higher reinjury risk!

Sport RTP is different. ⚽️🏀🏈🥎🏐🏉
It demands more than just time!!
It needs a criteria-based + time-based approach. ⏳Maximum RTP? 3 to 4 months!!

😉Because in sport, losing time means losing strength, stability… performance.

🧬RTP plans must be science-driven, never assumption-based.

🙌🏻Let’s raise the standard in rehab by learning from the best

On-Field Rehabilitation: Sports Physiotherapist 🏋️‍♂️⚽

Sports rehabilitation goes beyond healing and focuses on movement quality, physical conditioning, and training readiness.

🔹 Bridging the Gap → Sport-specific transition from rehabilitation to peak performance.
🔹 Collaboration → Performance + Coaching + Medical Staff work together for a seamless return.
🔹 Progressive Reintegration → Rehabilitation does not stop when training begins but evolves.

‼️ Returning to sport is not just physical, it is a mental and strategic process. 🧠🔥

🚨 Every injury, athlete, and sport follows a different timeline. There is no fixed moment when rehabilitation ends and training begins but continuous collaboration is essential!!!

🔬 If the role of a physiotherapist on the field is questioned, how do we objectively bridge the gap between movement quality and peak performance? 🤔

After spending whole morning analyzing injuries with my university… my overthinking mind makes me wonder 👇🏼

🔍 Injury speculation vs. scientific analysis … do we draw the line? 🤔⚽

It is easy to assume the worst when breaking down injury mechanics. But are we over-diagnosing instead of focusing on recovery?

📌 Haaland → Valgus collapse + hyperextension:
ACL risk? PLC involvement? Or just a significant bone bruise?

📌 Akanji → Suspected adductor tendon avulsion:
Surgical timeline suggests reattachment but how does this impact rehab ?

🔬 Are we too focused on guessing injuries instead of prioritizing prevention, structured rehab, and a safe RTP/RTC?

💡 Speculation doesn’t heal injuries…science does?

Stay humble and let them question you…🫡

Self-motivated since 2023, and the questions started early…

‼️ Why does a physiotherapist need tactical analysis?

✅ Because growth comes from learning, questioning, and pushing boundaries.

⚠️Sports Physios can’t work in isolation anymore but speaking the same language is a must on decision making.

⚠️ Understanding positional demands, workload, and GPS data is key to Return to Training, Return to Play, and Injury Prevention.

✅This journey is not about becoming a tactical analyst but about refining rehabilitation through a performance-driven, football-specific approach.

🤓…Let them think you haven’t changed while you keep evolving…

❗️Who knows what’s next? The future of sports demands everything isn’t it ??

Thank you 👌
