We are so grateful to Feminina Global for donating these beautiful fertility awareness bracelets to The Midwife Project. 🌿✨

These bracelets are more than adornment, they are tools of empowerment. They remind us of the power and wisdom in every woman’s body, and the importance of understanding and honoring our natural cycles. For generations, many of us in the Western world were taught to fear our bodies’ ability to create life, with little accurate sexual health education in schools or communities.

Now, with these bracelets and a new generation of Maya midwives carrying this knowledge, we are taking small but powerful steps toward decolonizing birth, sharing accurate information, reclaiming bodily wisdom, and nurturing a future where women’s bodies are celebrated, not feared. 💛

"It helps me connect with my humility, and to recognize that the true work of healing is done by our ancestors. It empowers me to value myself and to trust my intuition so I can offer the best service. Our class on Maya Abdominal Massage reminded us why this practice is such an important part of Maya midwifery. 🌿✨
From supporting women’s health and curing illnesses to helping guide the baby into the right position, this ancient knowledge is an essential tool in every midwife’s toolkit.
Learning and practicing these techniques connects us to generations of wisdom and the deep care our ancestors held for mothers, babies, and communities. 💛

One of the highlights of our classes this year was a joyful seed exchange with our Maya midwives! 🌱✨
Sharing and protecting traditional Indigenous seeds is so much more than gardening: it’s about preserving our traditional foods and supporting nutrition that strengthens mothers, babies, and communities.
The midwives’ faces lit up with excitement, and even the children in the class couldn’t stop smiling. Moments like this are unforgettable reminders of the joy and connection that come from honoring our ancestral knowledge. 💛

During our Empowerment Through Education class, we were honored to learn about a sacred women’s medicine from a Tata (Maya medicine man) who shared his wisdom with us. 🌿

This incredible plant mirrors the shape of a woman’s sacred parts and has been traditionally used to support women’s sexual health, fertility, and to ease menstrual discomfort. We are deeply grateful to the Tata for teaching us how to honor and care for women’s bodies through this ancient knowledge. 💛✨
