Multiple Myeloma 🩸🦴 is a type of blood cancer that forms in plasma cells within the bone marrow (the soft, spongy tissue inside your bones).

Normally, plasma cells produce antibodies to help fight infections. With multiple myeloma, these cells become cancerous, multiply uncontrollably, and crowd out healthy cells. Instead of making helpful antibodies, they produce abnormal proteins called M proteins, which the body cannot use.

Over time, excess M proteins can build up and potentially cause kidney damage. Multiple myeloma can also weaken bones, increasing the risk of fractures.

Kidney Cancer (renal cancer) develops when healthy cells change (mutate). They become cancerous cells that form tumors.

Your kidneys filter your blood 🩸, balance fluids in your body 💧, and get rid of waste 🚽

Kidney cancer begins when cells in the kidney develop changes in their DNA. DNA controls how cells grow, divide, and die. In healthy cells, this process is carefully regulated. But when DNA changes occur, cells can grow and multiply too quickly and may not die when they should. Over time, this buildup of abnormal cells can form a tumor.

Kidney cancer can show signs like:
- Blood in your urine,
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Loss of appetite
- Lumps
- Side or back pain
- Unexplained weight loss.

Taking care of your health is important. Getting your annual wellness checkup is a great way to discuss any concerns and stay on top of your well-being. Early detection can save lives, so don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor if you notice anything unusual. 🧡

Colorectal Cancer (colon cancer/rectal cancer) is the 2nd most common cancer here on Guam. Over the years it has also been on the rise in adults younger than 55 years of age. The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force changed the Colonoscopy screenings age to 45 when it was previously age 50 before the year 2021.

Cases of colorectal cancer have become more common for people in their 40s and even younger. This is why it is important to get your annual wellness check-ups done and speak to your healthcare provider about any concerns or changes you have noticed for yourself. Early detection is key and so is communication 🔑🗣👥

Here are the following symptoms of Colorectal Cancer:
🤷 Unexplained Weight Loss
😓Discomfort in Belly Area
⏳Feeling of Being Unable to Empty the Bowel
🚽Changes in Bowel Habits
🥱Weakness/Tiredness - Low Energy
🩸Blood in Stool/Rectal Bleeding

*Please note that having one or more of these symptoms does not mean you have Colorectal Cancer. However, these are symptoms you should bring up to your doctor so they could properly treat you.
