To All Massage Therapists and Persons Seeking Out Massage Therapy Please Take Note

If a client presents with a blood pressure reading that is dangerously low, that is an absolute contraindication for massage therapy.

🚫 Do not touch the client

🚑 Do not begin the session

✅ Refer them to a doctor immediately

Low blood pressure at that level can lead to dizziness, fainting, or even loss of consciousness during a massage. Massage naturally promotes relaxation and increased circulation, which can cause the pressure to drop even lower.

Untrained or uncertified individuals attempting to massage someone in this condition can do far more harm than good.

If you’re a client reading this, please remember-

Massage therapy should never replace medical care.

Always seek your doctor’s authorization first if you have low blood pressure or any unstable medical condition.
