IXON has won the Award of Excellence at the Kyoto Food Tech Expo 2025, an achievement that marks another milestone for Hong Kong innovation on the global stage. Held on October 2–3 at the Keihanna Open Innovation Center (KICK), the Kyoto Food Tech Expo was part of the Kyoto Smart City Expo, an international event exploring how smart technology can build a sustainable future.

This year’s Food Tech Expo focused on blending Kyoto’s deep culinary culture with cutting-edge agri- and food technology — and IXON stood out as the only overseas company invited to pitch among nine selected startups.

Representing IXON on stage was founder and CEO Felix Cheung, who pitched in Japanese to a packed room of academic researchers, corporate leaders, and government officials. Drawing from his experience studying Japanese and working in Tokyo earlier in his career, Felix introduced IXON’s Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging (ASAP) — a breakthrough technology that allows sous-vide food to be stored safely at room temperature for up to two years without preservatives.

The presentation resonated deeply with the Japanese audience, combining scientific precision with a passion for craftsmanship — values that echo Kyoto’s own food culture. Felix’s ability to explain IXON’s science in Japanese won not only the judges’ attention but also spontaneous applause from the floor.

“To present in Kyoto — a city where culinary tradition and innovation meet — was a special experience,” Felix reflected after the award ceremony. “Japan’s respect for food quality has always inspired IXON. Winning this award is an incredible recognition from a community we deeply admire.”

Following its success in Kyoto, IXON is now gearing up for its next global challenge — the Startup World Cup Grand Finale, to be held in Silicon Valley from October 15–17. Earlier this year, IXON was named Second Runner-up at the Startup World Cup Asia Finale, securing its place among the region’s most promising innovators. As the Hong Kong and Macau Regional Champion, IXON will represent the city on the world stage, showcasing how its ASAP technology can help reshape the future of sustainable food manufacturing — and carry the spirit of Hong Kong innovation to Silicon Valley.

香港食品科技公司 IXON 於 10 月 3 日(星期五)在日本舉行的 「京都食品科技博覽會2025」(Kyoto Food Tech Expo 2025) 榮獲「優秀獎(Award of Excellence)」,為香港創科界再添一項國際殊榮。是次博覽會於 10 月 2 至 3 日假 京阪奈開放創新中心(KICK) 舉行,屬於 「京都智慧城市博覽會(Kyoto Smart City Expo)」 的重點活動之一,聚焦以科技推動可持續未來的城市與產業發展。

今年的 Food Tech Expo 以「結合京都深厚的飲食文化與最先進的食品科技」為主題,從農業生產、食品加工到智慧供應鏈均有展示。而 IXON 則是 唯一受邀參與路演的海外公司,在九間精選初創中脫穎而出,備受矚目。

代表 IXON 登台演講的是公司創辦人兼行政總裁 張文浩博士(Felix Cheung)。他以日語向現場眾多學者、企業領袖及政府官員介紹 IXON 的核心技術——「先進低溫真空無菌包裝技術」(Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging,ASAP)。這項突破性技術能讓低溫慢煮的食物在室溫下保存長達兩年,無需冷藏或防腐劑。

IXON Food Technology has been awarded 2nd Runner-Up at the Startup World Cup Asia Finale 2025, held on Wednesday, 3 September. The competition, hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, brought together the best of Asia’s startup ecosystem after more than 100 regional events across 60+ markets worldwide.

The Asia Finale showcased 12 outstanding startups representing frontier innovations in AI, biotech, healthcare, fintech, and material technology. A distinguished judging panel included Jing Shi (MTR Lab), Benny Lee (Amazon Web Services), Chi Ho (Swire Properties), Kayla Yuen (HB Ventures), Terrence Qiu (Eschange Capital), and Luke Ran (China Prosperity Capital).

LaSense Technology Limited was crowned Asia Champion, with Singapore’s E3A Healthcare named 1st Runner-Up. IXON Food Technology, representing Hong Kong and Macau as regional champion, secured the position of 2nd Runner-Up, marking a significant achievement for the company and its pioneering ASAP (Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging) technology.

As one of the top three winners, IXON will advance to the Startup World Cup Grand Finale in San Francisco, scheduled for 15–17 October 2025, where the global champion will receive a US$1 million investment prize.

In celebration of IXON’s achievement, Chef Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook), Fion Chong (President, Hong Kong Business Association in Nevada), and Chi Tran (Director and Officer-in-Charge, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Los Angeles) recorded a special video message to cheer on and support IXON’s journey to the Grand Finale.

This year’s edition of VDS shattered participation records, with 1,246 startups from 84 countries vying for a place on the global stage. Out of this extraordinary pool of innovation and talent, IXON is honored to be recognized by the international jury as one of the Top 50 most disruptive and high-potential startups in the world.

From this elite shortlist, just 10 finalists—5 in Early Stage and 5 in Growth Stage—will be selected to pitch live on the main stage of VDS on October 22, at the iconic City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. Following our recent win at the Startup World Cup Hong Kong/Macao Regional Final, we realized it was time to let more people in on what we’re building at IXON — and why it matters. That’s why we’re excited to launch a new weekly video series exploring the science, stories, and urgent global issues connected to our core innovation: Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging (ASAP).

“Winning the Startup World Cup gave us a bigger platform — and a bigger responsibility,” said Felix Cheung, Founder and CEO of IXON. “As we prepare for the Grand Finale in San Francisco this October, we want to help more people understand how ASAP can change the way we produce, move, and eat fresh food.”

IXON reached a key milestone at the NOVAX Global InvestMatch Carnival 2025, held at AsiaWorld-Expo. The Hong Kong-based food tech startup was awarded the Most Valuable Investment Start-up Award on Day 1, and after pitching on Day 2, received over HK$5 million in virtual investment intention from judges and investors.

The pitch showcased IXON’s Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging (ASAP) technology—a breakthrough that allows fresh, human-grade meals to be shelf-stable for months without refrigeration or preservatives. Originally designed for human consumption, the technology has recently been adapted for the pet food market, addressing pain points such as freezer burn, nutritional loss, and the inconvenience of defrosting.

“This was only my second time pitching on stage, so I’m beyond thrilled to receive this kind of recognition and support on behalf of IXON,” said co-founder Elton Ho.

Visitors to the IXON booth experienced a new vision for food logistics—where shelf-stable doesn’t mean over-processed. With cold-chain limitations still restricting global food access, IXON’s solution offers a sustainable, scalable alternative.

The NOVAX Carnival welcomed over 500 VCs, corporate partners, and startup scouts from across Asia and beyond. IXON’s recognition and investment signals mark a strong step forward as it gears up for commercialization and global expansion.

IXON took center stage at the “Seizing New Opportunities in Hong Kong’s Silver Economy” seminar hosted by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) on June 25. The event brought together government officials, industry experts, and innovators to explore opportunities in aging-related industries. Among the key speakers was Dr Bernard Chan Pak-Li, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, who opened the session with remarks on the growing silver economy and the government’s support for elderly-focused innovation.

During the session, IXON’s founder and CEO Dr. Felix Cheung delivered a keynote titled “Innovative Aseptic Packaging Technology: A New Soft Meal Experience for the Elderly”, introducing the company’s breakthrough Advanced Sous-vide Aseptic Packaging (ASAP) technology. Cheung explained how the technology redefines “soft meals” by offering shelf-stable, flavorful, and nutritious options for seniors — no refrigeration or preservatives required.

Cheung also presented three sample dishes prepared using ASAP — bittermelon with Chinese conpoy, soft beancurd with crab roe, and winter melon soup with chicken and crab meat. Attendees, including care providers and food industry experts, were impressed by the authentic textures, vibrant appearance, and nostalgic flavors. Many described the dishes as a refreshing and dignified alternative to traditional puréed meals.

Traditional soft meals often lack flavor and appeal, and require cold storage. Many seniors with chewing or swallowing difficulties are limited to bland, overly soft foods. Cheung outlined how ASAP addresses this challenge by combining sous-vide cooking, high-temperature sterilization, and aseptic packaging. The result: meals that are soft yet recognizable, enjoyable, and safe at room temperature for up to two years.

“Our mission is to enhance senior nutrition and dining experiences through food technology,” said Cheung. “Older adults deserve meals that are both nutritious and truly enjoyable. By reinventing how soft meals are made, we’re restoring dignity and joy to every bite.”

Each of the sample dishes showcased ASAP’s potential:

--Bittermelon with Chinese conpoy became tender yet retained its familiar look and taste.

--Soft beancurd with imitation crab roe offered a silky texture and rich visual appeal.

--Wintermelon soup with chicken and crab meat delivered a thick, comforting broth — perfect for seniors with swallowing difficulties.

IXON’s participation at the seminar emphasized its commitment to solving aging-related dietary challenges with science-backed innovation. With strong interest from the healthcare and food sectors, the company is preparing to launch its first commercial line of ASAP soft meals — helping seniors eat better and live better.

2025年6月25日,IXON思創食品科技參與由香港中華廠商聯合會(CMA)主辦的「把握香港銀髮經濟新機遇」研討會,成為活動焦點之一。是次活動雲集政府官員、業界專家及創新企業,探討與高齡化相關產業的新機遇。當日主禮嘉賓之一、商務及經濟發展局副局長陳百里博士於開場致辭中表示,銀髮經濟潛力龐大,政府將持續支持與長者相關的創新發展。

IXON創辦人兼行政總裁張文浩博士於研討會中發表主題演講《創新無菌包裝技術:銀髮一族的軟餐新體驗》,介紹公司突破性的先進低溫無菌包裝技術(ASAP)。他指出,這項技術為長者提供一種無需冷藏、無添加防腐劑、可常溫保存的創新膳食方案,兼具美味、營養與便利性,重新定義傳統「軟餐」。

張博士亦展示了三款以ASAP技術製作的樣本菜式:瑤柱燜苦瓜、蟹黃豆腐及蟹肉雞茸冬瓜羹。多位長者護理機構代表及食品業專家在品嚐後均表示驚喜,認為菜式保留了真實口感與色澤,味道亦充滿懷舊氣息,是傳統絞碎餐點以外,更具尊嚴與吸引力的選擇。

傳統長者軟餐往往味道平淡、質地糊爛,且需依賴冷藏保存,未能真正提升長者用餐體驗。張博士指出,ASAP技術透過結合低溫慢煮、高溫滅菌及無菌包裝三大核心工藝,打造出**「軟而不爛、原形可辨、入口愉悅」的即食膳食,更可在室溫下保存長達兩年**。

「我們的使命是運用食品科技提升長者的營養與用餐體驗,」張博士表示。「長者應享有既營養又可口的膳食,而非被局限於沒味道、像病人餐一樣的食物。透過ASAP,我們希望讓每一口都能帶來尊嚴與快樂。」

三道樣本菜式充分展現ASAP技術的潛力:

--瑤柱燜苦瓜:苦瓜經慢煮後變得軟嫩,仍保留原有外型與味道。

--蟹黃豆腐:豆腐細滑,配上色澤誘人的仿蟹黃醬,兼具口感與視覺享受。

--蟹肉雞茸冬瓜羹:湯羹濃郁,食材軟滑,非常適合吞嚥困難的長者。

Hong Kong foodtech company IXON and Singapore’s Chuku’s Kitchen have announced a joint venture to commercialize a new generation of shelf-stable, human-grade pet food. This collaboration brings together Chuku’s Kitchen’s fresh, veterinarian-formulated meals with IXON’s proprietary Advanced Sous-Vide Aseptic Packaging (ASAP) technology. The goal: to deliver convenient, nutritious, and minimally processed meals and treats for pets — without the need for refrigeration.

The new product line will debut at Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL, from July 1–3 at MITEC Kuala Lumpur, where both companies will co-exhibit.

All meals and snacks are made from fresh, premium ingredients, developed by board-certified veterinary nutritionists. “We’re not just feeding pets — we’re nourishing them with 100% human-grade ingredients that are better than what the average person eats daily,” said Josh Chew, founder of Chuku’s Kitchen. “Every product is science-backed, customized to your pet’s daily caloric needs, and free from artificial preservatives or additives.”

Using IXON’s ASAP technology, these meals can be stored at room temperature for months — with no freezer burn, defrosting hassles, or spoilage. “We’re thrilled to support Chuku’s Kitchen in bringing their vision to life,” said Felix Cheung, founder and CEO of IXON. “Our technology preserves taste, nutrition, and texture, while also making high-quality pet meals accessible to more households.”

The joint venture will also introduce premium treats such as sirloin strips and salmon steaks — crafted into juicy, delectable snacks that retain key nutrients like high-quality proteins, omega-3 fatty acids, and essential vitamins. For side ingredients that are plant-based, antioxidants such as polyphenols and anthocyanins are also preserved. The vivid colors and natural aromas of the products serve as visual proof of the technology’s ability to protect freshness and nutritional value.

These products are thoughtfully aligned with the global push toward sustainability. Designed with modern households in mind — especially those with limited freezer or storage space — these innovative shelf-stable meals eliminate the need for cold chain logistics. By reducing reliance on refrigeration, minimizing food waste, and cutting down cold transport emissions, the packaging offers a planet-friendly solution that benefits both pets and the environment.

Traditional fresh pet food is typically confined to local markets due to cold storage and shipping constraints. The IXON–Chuku’s partnership opens new doors for broader distribution. After Singapore, the joint venture plans to expand into Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, and Canada.

At SIAL Kuala Lumpur, attendees will be able to sample both the original frozen meals and the new shelf-stable versions. Executives from both companies will be available to discuss the technology, product development, and international expansion strategy.

合資企業亦將推出高端寵物小食,如西冷牛排條及三文魚扒──製作成果是多汁可口的小食,同時保留優質蛋白質、奧米加3脂肪酸及各類必要維他命。而植物性配料中所含的多酚與花青素等天然抗氧化物亦能得以保存。產品所展現的鮮豔色澤與天然香氣,正是技術保鮮力的最佳證明。

這些產品亦與全球可持續發展目標不謀而合。專為現代家庭而設——尤其是缺乏冷藏或儲物空間的住戶——此類創新常溫膳食可省卻冷鏈物流所需。減少對冷藏的依賴、降低食物浪費與冷運碳排,為寵物與地球帶來雙重裨益。

傳統鮮食因冷藏與配送限制,多只能在本地市場銷售。IXON與Chuku’s的合作將打破此局限。繼新加坡後,合資企業計劃進一步拓展至馬來西亞、泰國、澳洲及加拿大。

在SIAL吉隆坡展會上,參觀者可親自試吃原版冷凍餐及全新常溫版本。兩家公司高層亦將在現場介紹技術細節、產品開發計劃及國際拓展策略。
