嬰兒按摩是一種身體的接觸(愛的接觸)，合併觸覺與運動感覺的刺激，並且是在一定的順序下施行。(Ireland & Olson,2000)
嬰兒按摩是一種成人與嬰兒溝通的方式之一
父/母需要子解及接受嬰兒給予的語言與非語言的反應
接觸(touch)是發展依附感的必備需求之一
嬰兒出生第二天便可進行，直至12個月大(泛指第一次按摩)
