Going for a check-up isn’t “being dramatic” – it’s smart self-care. Early checks mean early action, especially if your checkup picks up on problems like high blood pressure. Prevention first!

This December we celebrated World AIDS Day.

While we have made progress in the fight against the AIDS epidemic, the latest data shows that the figures remain stubbornly high. Last year alone 1.3 million people acquired HIV and 630,000 lost their lives to HIV-related illnesses, the same as in 2023.

This reality makes 2025’s World AIDS Day theme, "Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” a timely call to action. It’s a reminder that we must protect our progress. And that ensuring everyone has access to prevention, care, and knowledge is the only way we’ll stay on track to end the epidemic.

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. 2025’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” is a timely reminder that inclusion is not and should not be just a goal. It is a driver of development for everyone.

True progress happens when we amplify the voices and the leadership of persons with disabilities and help to ensure they can enjoy full participation in every aspect of life. That means equitable access to education and employment, responsive medical care, barrier-free spaces, and much more.

We must build a world where rights are respected and opportunities are equal. Because when we remove barriers for those who face them, we all move forward and reap the benefits.

This November we celebrate World AMR Awareness Week.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is the silent pandemic many of us aren’t aware of, but the numbers tell their own story. 1.27 million deaths a year are directly caused by bacterial AMR. A staggering 4.95 million deaths a year overall are associated with AMR.

AMR threatens the very foundation of modern medicine, from routine day-patient surgeries and treatments to lifesaving interventions like cancer treatment. We all have a part to play in tackling it.

The results are in – and the lunchbox army is winning! We recently asked you about your office lunchtime habits, and the winner was a landslide.

🍎 A massive 74% of you are bringing food from home! Are meal prep or leftovers king? Or do you all work from home and have exploited the loophole in the question?!

Here is the rest of the breakdown:

🍎 11% of you told us you typically enjoy a healthy takeaway
🍎 Just 2% make something in the office.
🍎 Meanwhile, 13% of you said “Other” (but didn’t tell us what!)

To the “Other” voters: Are you skipping lunch, eating out, using the office cafeteria, or something else? And for the majority: Whether it’s for budgetary reasons, health benefits, or simply avoiding a lunchtime queue, what’s your go-to easy lunch to take to work?

Today is World Diabetes Day, a crucial opportunity to raise awareness.

The latest figures are staggering: 589 million adults worldwide – that’s 1 in 9 of us – are living with diabetes. Over 40% - 252 million of us – are undiagnosed.

Yet diabetes is a major cause of global mortality, killing 3.4 million people in 2024. And unlike several other illnesses and conditions, the number of people living with diabetes is growing.

Key risk factors for type 2 diabetes include:
❗️ Diet
❗️ Physical inactivity
❗️ Family history

Awareness and early detection – not to mention being proactive to reduce your risk of developing diabetes – is vital. At Now Health International, we believe in proactive health. In addition to assisting and encouraging you with your wellness objectives at all times, our chronic illness cover will give you the support you need, when you need it, should you receive a diabetes diagnosis. Know your risks, and take action to mitigate them.

Using your phone before bed disrupts your melatonin levels and your sleep – even keeping your phone in your room while you sleep can have a negative impact! Better rest starts with boundaries for your smartphone. Leave it outside of your bedroom – not right outside! – and enjoy a deeper, more revitalising sleep.
