As terrain changes from Hong Kong’s rugged trails to smooth urban footpaths, and weather shifts into heat or humidity - the wrong combination can lead to hotspots, rubbing and painful blisters. 🆘

1️⃣ Opt for blister-resistant socks with moisture-wicking fibres and a snug (but not tight) fit.
2️⃣ Choose shoes designed for your running surface (road vs trail models offer different grip and structure).
3️⃣ Check your shoes regularly for signs of wear (flattened cushioning, uneven tread or stretched uppers).

Running starts with the right gear, not just the right mindset.

As we age, reduced mobility, changes in foot structure and difficulty with regular nail care can all increase the risk of ingrown toenails - a small problem that can cause a large amount of discomfort.

For elderly individuals or those who care for them, prevention starts with some simple habits:
🦶 Wear properly fitted footwear with enough room around the toes.
🦶 Trim nails straight across (not too short and not curved either).
🦶 Don’t ignore early signs of tenderness, swelling or redness at the nail edge.

At Hong Kong Foot Clinic, we support older adults with gentle, professional foot care to help manage and prevent issues like ingrown toenails before they become more complex.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain in runners - but it’s not the only one. Tight calves, worn footwear or overtraining can also contribute to persistent pain.

At Hong Kong Foot Clinic, we offer custom orthotics designed to support your unique foot shape, running style and load distribution, based on professional gait analysis and clinical assessment. 🦶

Unlike off-the-shelf inserts, custom orthotics provide tailored support to help reduce strain, manage symptoms and keep you moving. 👟

Before you lace up... are your shoes supporting your stride? 👟

✔ Find out your foot type (neutral, overpronation or underpronation)
✔ Prioritise arch support and cushioning based on your training level
✔ Replace shoes regularly (after 500-700 km) to maintain shock absorption
✔ Avoid fashion-led, trending styles that prioritise aesthetics over function
✔ Consider a professional gait analysis for precision-fit recommendations

At Hong Kong Foot Clinic, we provide evidence-informed insights to help you choose the right footwear for your feet, activity level and running goals.
