上週的兒童工作坊充滿互動體驗與獸醫知識！一起來看看我們未來動物守護者們的精彩學習時刻：

🦴 認識狗狗的身體結構
孩子們嘗試理解狗狗解剖圖，學習將器官貼到正確的位置！過程中笑聲不斷——尤其當大家發現「肝臟原來在這裡」的時候！

🎭 狗狗面具製作與親近訓練
在專業獸醫的引導下，小朋友製作自己的狗狗面具，並學習安全、合適地接近狗狗的方法。他們深入瞭解與動物互動時該做與不該做的事——這是一堂關於同理心與安全的課堂。

💩 「便便告訴我們什麼」
當天最令人難忘的環節：學習如何從狗狗的便便觀察健康狀況。孩子們發現，便便竟能反映飲食、消化甚至疾病——每個人離開時都帶著新知識（還有滿滿的笑聲）！

🐕 扮演獸醫與寵物主人
下午，孩子們分別扮演獸醫與寵物主人，完整演練從發現症狀、診斷到照護的過程。他們還參觀了我們的醫院——就像真正的獸醫一樣！

Our kids workshop was packed with hands-on fun and real vet insights! Here’s what our future animal caregivers experienced:

🦴 Learning About Dog Anatomy
Students tried to understand the dog anatomy map, learning to place the organs in the right spots! There was plenty of laughter — especially when some found out exactly where the liver goes!

🎭 Dog Mask Craft & Approach Training
Guided by a professional vet, kids made their own dog masks and learned the safe, respectful way to approach a dog. They explored essential do’s and don’ts for animal interactions — a true lesson in empathy and safety.

💩 “What the P**p Says” Masterclass
One of the most memorable sessions: learning how to spot health issues from a dog’s p**p. Kids discovered how p**p can reveal diet, digestion, and disease — everyone left with new knowledge (and maybe a few giggles)!

🐕 Role‑playing Vets & Pet Owners
In the afternoon, students stepped into the roles of vet and pet owner, navigating the full journey from symptoms to diagnosis and care. They also enjoyed an exclusive behind‑the‑scenes tour of our hospital — just like real veterinary professionals!

🐾 VetiVa 手術案例分享｜腹膜心苞膜疝氣（小腸氣）的成功修復🐾

上個月，我們迎來了一隻可愛的病患——三歲的金吉拉貓「來仔」。來仔經家庭醫生轉介至VetiVa，經過電腦斷層掃描(CT-scan)及心臟超聲波檢查，確診為腹膜心苞膜疝氣（小腸氣）(PPDH)。

手術中，我們的外科專科獸醫Dr. Kenny Carroll確定部分小腸、膽囊以及肝葉已移位至心苞膜內。Dr. Kenny Carroll帶領的外科團隊順利將所有器官復位，並以精密的縫合技術修復了橫膈膜疝氣，過程中無需進入胸腔，大幅降低了手術風險。

來仔恢復良好，順利出院且無任何併發症。一個月後覆診時，心臟超聲波檢查顯示其心臟功能完全正常，且無疝氣復發跡象。對於這類疝氣問題，手術修復後的效果是非常顯著，且復發機會很低。

🐾 VetiVa Case Study | Successful Surgical Repair of Peritoneopericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia 🐾

Last month, we welcomed an adorable patient—a 3 year old Chinchilla cat named Loi Jai. Referred to VetiVa by his family veterinarian, Loi Jai was diagnosed with a peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH) following a CT scan and echocardiogram.

During the surgery, our small animal specialist surgeon, Dr. Kenny Carroll, confirmed that a portion of the small intestine, gallbladder, and a liver lobe had herniated into the pericardial sac. Dr. Kenny Carroll led the surgical team in successfully repositioning all organs back into the abdominal cavity. The diaphragmatic defect was precisely repaired with sutures—without the need for entering the thoracic cavity, which significantly reduced surgical risks.

Loi Jai recovered well and was discharged without any complications. At the one-month follow-up, an echocardiogram showed completely normal cardiac function, with no signs of hernia recurrence. For this type of hernia, surgical repair is highly effective and carries a very low risk of recurrence.

📚 獸醫知識分享：認識腹膜心苞膜疝氣(小腸氣)

腹膜心苞膜疝氣(Peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia, PPDH)是一種先天性異常，因橫膈膜先天發育不良，導致橫膈膜與心苞膜互相連接，形成通道。使腹腔內的器官（如肝臟，腸道等）可進入心苞膜內，出現移位。

部分動物可能終生沒有明顯症狀，但有些會出現呼吸急促、嘔吐、食欲下降等不適。若確診並出現病徵，通常建議透過手術修復橫膈膜，讓器官復位，以恢復健康。

📚 Veterinary Knowledge Sharing: Understanding Peritoneopericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia (PPDH)

Peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH) is a congenital defect characterized by an abnormal communication between the peritoneal and pericardial cavities due to a diaphragmatic defect, permitting abdominal organs to herniate into the pericardial sac.

Some animals may show no obvious symptoms throughout their lives, while others may experience discomfort such as rapid breathing, vomiting, or loss of appetite. If diagnosed and clinical signs are present, surgical repair of the diaphragmatic defect is typically recommended to reposition the displaced organs and restore health.
