Magic of Making Wishes: Manifesting Your Reality

In Eastern traditions, people would always go to temples to ask for guidance from Gods whenever something happened, be it divination by sticks or moon shaped blocks, hoping they can help mitigate or solve issues. What about Scandinavian traditions? What would people do when facing similar challenges in life?
Due to historical reasons, there was Christianization very early on in Scandinavia, however, they will still go to the trollcunning person (trollkarl/ trollkvinna) in their community for help. The person will then go find out the cause of the issue and offer magical assistance as they see fit. Most issues surround harvests, the farming of animals, seeking partner or marriage, health, legal issues and hunting or fishing luck. These are mostly similar to what we face today, we all have to deal with life.
In another sense, the Norse are a bit more pro-active in solving their problems since they live in a harsher environment, it’s life or death. So they will find someone who has the ability to deal or even bargain with nature, to see how they can break off from stagnancy and continue to move. One of the methods is to conduct a ritual and make a wish.
Each new year’s wish, each birthday wish, wishing to the moon and even wishing to a shooting star are similar actions. This is an active way to participate in forging one’s path. There are rules and techniques, rather than merely hoping one’s wish will come true. The Nordic folk tradition, trolldom, will be used as a foundation to guide you to understand how to properly manifest what you want in a clear and precise way.
