冬至大過年,保暖衣物要加添,食完團圓飯要吃甜!

「冬至」 是全年白天最短的一天,在節氣和傳統而言皆為非常重要的日子,過了冬至,白天時間逐漸增長。冬天宜進補,因為這是蓄積能量、強健體力的最佳時機,適量進食羊肉、牛肉、糯米,桂圓、紅棗、核桃等溫補食材。但不要一味只顧進補,小心補過頭以致上火、口乾舌燥,本身為偏熱或濕熱體質人士,如咽喉痛、口瘡、暗瘡等症狀的則不應胡亂溫補。

宜:
⭕南瓜和車厘子也是溫補食材
⭕米水加點薑,驅寒又美味
⭕使用放濕機令室內濕度提升
⭕睡覺時加個暖水袋暖腳

忌:
❌撕走唇上的脫皮,容易造成傷口
❌吃煎炸辛辣食物會傷陰,加倍耗損津液
❌別過度吃喝令肚子吃不消
❌避免坐在窗口或當風處

Winter Solstice Solar Term
Winter Solstice solar term marks the shortest day of the year. It is a very important day in terms of solar terms and tradition. After the winter solstice, the daylight time gradually increases. Winter is the time to replenish because this is the best time to accumulate energy and strengthen physical strength. You can eat more warm and hot-natured ingredients such as lamb, beef, glutinous rice, dried longan, Chinese red dates, walnuts. But don‘t just focus on replenishing, be careful not to overdo it and get heat to accumulate in our body. Pay attention that those with heat-related or damp-heat body type, or those with heat related symptoms such as sore throat, canker sore, pimples should not have replenishing ingredients.

What to Do:
- Pumpkin and cherry are replenishing ingredients.
- Rice water with ginger is delicious and can dispel cold.
- Use a dehumidifier to increase indoor humidity.
- Use a hot water bottle to warm your feet when you sleep.

What NOT to Do:
- Removing peeling skin as it may become a wound.
- Eating spicy, oily and fried food as that will hurt your yin and further use up body fluids.
- Don’t overeat or overdrink.
- Avoid sitting by the window or windy areas.

大雪節氣,代表冬季正式開始!雖然香港的冬天越來越暖和短,但冷鋒來襲還是要注意保暖,尤其幼童、老人家及抗病力較弱的人,除了添加厚衣,別忘了雙手雙腳要保暖。雖說冬季是進補的最佳時機,但進補也要視乎體質,否則適得其反。

宜:
⭕適量食用屬性溫熱的食材以收溫補之效,如紅棗、桂圓、南瓜、羊肉、牛肉等
⭕每天飲米水,健脾胃強身防流感
⭕間中曬太陽及浸足浴補充陽氣
⭕睡覺時穿對鬆身厚棉襪,半夜不怕失溫

忌:
❌少吃生冷及寒性食物
❌不宜無限制吃火鍋燒烤,容易上火

Major Snow Solar Term
Major snow signifies that winter is really here! Although Hong Kong’s winter is getting warmer and shorter, you still have to keep warm when the cold front hits. Especially for children, the elderly and those with weak immune systems to stay warm. Aside from wearing thicker layers, be sure to keep your hands and feet warm. Although winter is the best time to have tonic food, it should depend on your physical condition, otherwise it will be counterproductive.

What to Do:
- You can eat warm and hot-natured ingredients to replenish, such as Chinese red dates, dried longan, pumpkin, lamb, and beef.
- Have rice water daily to strengthen your body and prevent the flu.
- Get some sun and take a foot bath to replenish yang energy.
- Try to wear loose and thick cotton socks to sleep.

What NOT to Do:
- Have less cold and raw food.
- Don’t over indulge in hot pot and barbecue.
- Avoid eating tonic food randomly, which may cause heat accumulation.
- Avoid staying up late or overworking.

Minor Snow Solar Term is the second solar term in winter, and its name represents snow in colder climates. As the weather is getting cooler, we have to keep warm and protect yang qi. Winter is the best season to nourish the kidneys. Since the yang in the kidneys will determine the yang energy of the entire body, it is important for us to take care of the kidneys so that our body can handle the cold.

What to Do:
- Eat black soya bean, black sesame, black rice, black fungus, sea cucumber and black-boned chicken etc. to nourish the kidneys.
- Warm oats rice water can strengthen spleen and relieve constipation.
- Soak your feet before bed time to promote blood circulation.
- Sleep early and sleep in a bit during this season to nourish the kidneys and gently replenish the body.

What NOT to Do:
- Avoid staying up late playing on the phone.
- Be sure to open the windows occasionally to circulate air.
- Excessive exercise can easily damage Yang Qi.
- Air out your winter clothes before wearing to prevent the storage smell.

中醫解讀:
濕熱體質的人最容易遇上頭油問題。
飲食油膩重口味、經常熬夜 → 脾胃運化失常,濕熱上蒸至頭頂 → 皮脂分泌過旺。
結果:頭皮又油又痕,還可能長頭瘡,甚至掉髮。
怎樣改善?
外在調護
– 洗頭適度:每日 1 次即可
– 選用清爽無添加洗頭水
– 護髮素只塗髮尾,避免接觸頭皮
– 平日多梳頭,促進血液循環
內在調理
– 多吃清熱祛濕食材:冬瓜、生薏米、赤小豆、粟米鬚、菊花、雞蛋花

宜:

⭕早餐宜吃碗溫暖的米粥、煨番薯
⭕運動宜做輕鬆的小慢跑、拉筋或靜態瑜伽

Today marks the beginning of winter and it’s the first solar term of winter. The weather is cold, everything is hidden, the human body is also adapting to nature and metabolism is relatively slower, so the main point of healthy living is to nourish yin and protect yang. Hong Kong has a southern climate. Although it has reached the beginning of winter, it has not turned cold. It is more suitable to nourish our spleen and stomach before eating tonic food.

What to Do:
- Fried rice water can dispel cold and warm stomach.
- A bowl of warm rice congee or stewed sweet potatoes is a good breakfast.
- Enjoy easy exercise such as jogging, stretching or static yoga.
- Aside from your face, moisturize the body as well.

What NOT to Do:
- Avoid cold and raw foods and avoid getting wind blown directly.
- Hot pot can warm you up but don’t eat it every day.
- Don’t take a hot bath for too long.
- Drinking alcohol can warm the body, but the amount should be appropriate and suited to your body constitution.
