Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association 香港物理治療學會 The Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association was officially founded in 1963 and was incorporated in 1998.

Provisional membership of World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) was gained in 1976 and full membership was subsequently earned in 1978. In 1994, the Association joined the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong as an Associate Member.

香港物理治療學會於1963年正式成立，並於1998年註冊為有限公司。
本會於1976年加入世界物理治療學會聯盟，於1978年成為其正式會員。
於1994年本會亦加入了香港醫學組織聯會成為其聯繫會員。

Mr. Abraham Jones is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, partner, and clinical educator at a multidisciplinary private practice in Rockhampton, QLD. He graduated from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy at University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 2018. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland. His key areas of interest include multidisciplinary practice, clinical education, workplace culture, and supporting recent graduates as they transition into the private practice sector.

[CPSG] - "Physiotherapy in Critical Care" 🌟

心肺專研組（CPSG）非常榮幸邀請到來自澳洲的深切治療物理治療專家 Dr. Peter Thomas給我們主持了一場的網上研討會，主題為”Physiotherapy in Critical Care” 🌍。此次研討會的參加人數超過50人 📈，大家共同學習有關於呼吸機、manual hyperinflation (MHI) 、ventilator hyperinflation (VHI) 的重要主題 💨，同時也針對與會者提出的問題進行深入解答 🤔。

研討會開始前，我們一同為最近香港火災事件的受害者默哀一分鐘 🕯️，對他們及其家人表達我們的悼念與關心 ❤️。

整場長達4小時的研討會中，參加者踴躍提問，包括 SIMV 模式下的 VHI 應用、煙霧吸入患者的物理治療考慮，以及 MHI 與 VHI 的選擇等 🔍，Dr. Thomas 都一一深入解答，分享臨床經驗與研究見解 📚。

感謝大家的積極參與與熱烈支持 🙌，讓我們繼續一起學習、一起進步 💪。

Cardiopulmonary Specialty Group (CPSG) was honored to have Dr. Peter Thomas, a cardiopulmonary physiotherapist expert in critical care from Australia, for an engaging and insightful webinar titled "Physiotherapy in Critical Care" on 29 November 2025 🌟. We had over 50 participants who joined us to learn about essential topics such as “Mechanical Ventilation & Waveform Analysis” and “Application of Manual & Ventilator Hyperinflation (MHI/VHI)” 🌬️, while also addressing in-depth clinical questions from our attendees 💬.

The session began with a moment of silence to mourn the victims of the recent tragic fire in Tai Po 🕯️. Our thoughts were with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking event 💔.

During the 4-hour webinar, participants raised thoughtful questions on topics such as VHI in SIMV modes, physiotherapy for smoke inhalation victims, and the use of MHI vs VHI 🤔. Dr. Thomas’s responses were rich with clinical experience and evidence-based insights 🌍.

We extend our gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and heartfelt support 🙏. Let’s continue learning and growing together 🌱.

[Meeting among representatives from Allied Health and Dental Professions about Voting of Legislative Council 🗳️]

On Dec 5, Mr. Francis CHAN (Professional Development Subcommittee Member) attended the meeting in Health Bureau Office, with Dr. Cecilia FAN (Under Secy for Health) 🩺, Dr. Joe FAN (Senior Advisor, Secretary for Health's Office) 💼, Ms. Elaine MAK (Scientific Offr) 🔬, and representatives from Allied Health and Dental Professions.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the importance of voting on Medical and Health Services sector, particularly in relation to the future professional development and governance of the Allied Health and Dental sectors which will be discussed in Legislative Council. 🏥

原定於2025年12月1日（星期一）晚上8時正舉行之ZOOM線上論壇（候選人：林哲玄醫生、梁禮賢醫生）將會改期進行。

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of our upcoming Election Forum. In response to the recent devastating fire in Tai Po and out of respect for the victims and the community, we believe it is appropriate to reschedule the event.

The forum, which was to be held on Monday, 1 December 2025, at 8:00 PM via ZOOM with candidates Dr. David LAM and Dr. John LEUNG will be postponed until further notice.

We understand that this change is made on short notice and we sincerely regret any disruption this may cause. In these challenging times, let us continue to stand together, support one another, and extend care to those in need.

【(OSHRSG) Courses on Preventing Injury from Workplace Violence】

The courses are designed to provide appropriate and effective physical intervention techniques for frontline staff when faced with imminent threats or violence in the workplace. Participants will be equipped with practical skills to promote legally defensible approaches and develop basic competencies in responding to assaultive behaviors using breakaway and restraint techniques.

Level 1: Certificate Course of Breakaway Techniques (脫身法技巧課程)
Level 2: Certificate Course of Restraint Techniques (約束法技巧課程)

📌 Remarks:
- Level 1 course was previously organized by HKPA in 2020, 2021, and 2024. It welcomes both newcomers and repeat participants.
- Completion of Level I (i.e. 2-year validity) is a prerequisite for application of Level 2.
- ONLY persons who have completed Level 1 course on or after 9 Jan 2024 are valid for joining this Level 2 course.
