As we approach flu season, it’s important to stay informed and take preventive measures. Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an acute respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It may lead to serious complications, especially for the young children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems who may experience more severe illness after contracting influenza, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, myocarditis, encephalitis, meningitis, or severe pneumonia, which can be fatal in severe cases. Healthy individuals may also suffer from severe infections or influenza complications.

• Prevention: The seasonal flu vaccine is an effective way to prevent influenza and its complications, significantly reducing the rates of hospitalization and death associated with the virus

💉 Who Should Get Vaccinated?
Everyone aged 6 months and older should get the flu vaccine annually, unless there are specific contraindications. According to the recommendations of the Hong Kong Government, priority groups for flu vaccination include children aged 6 months to under 18 years.
