Dr François doing a gait analysis for Phoebe, one of our much-loved long-term patients.
Phoebe has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament, and we need to make a very important decision regarding surgery…
Cruciate injuries are common in dogs of all ages. In young dogs this injury is routinely repaired by surgery, with a relatively quick recovery, and excellent long-term prognosis.
In senior dogs, this decision can be much more complicated. Many of these patients have arthritis and muscle loss which can be normal parts of the aging process. Some have important other age-related conditions which could affect anaesthetic safety and/or recovery from surgery. The decision to do surgery is much more complex…and if the surgery is done, it should be in the hands of an experienced specialist orthopaedic surgeon.
That’s where Dr François comes in! As a boarded specialist surgeon with extensive experience in challenging orthopaedic cases, he has the knowledge and experience to help Phoebe’s family make the best decision.
We are very happy to have him helping our team, and our very special patients. 🙏☺️
